Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Thomas chose Charles Rennie Mackintosh as his ‘famous Scot’ to present to the class, he prepared a brilliant powerpoint presentation. Thomas spoke very clearly about his famous Scot, showing us examples of his amazing work. Thomas got the audience to participate by colouring in some Charles Rennie Mackintosh designs. Fantastic presentation Thomas, very well done. 🙂

Lulu

Mairianne chose Lulu as her ‘famous Scot’ to present to the class, she prepared a powerpoint presentation which was fantastic. Mairianne loved Lulu’s fashion sense in the 1960’s. Mairianne spoke confidently to the class and told us all about Lulu’s singing career. We listened to Lulu singing her most famous song ‘shout’ and had a peerie dance to it! Well done Mairianne, your presentation was fantastic.

Pancake day!

Today we made delicious pancakes, they were so good. We flipped the pancakes, it was so fun. A few of them landed on the floor so we had to put them in the bin! They were really good with butter. We wish everyday was pancake day! 🙂

We learned about Shrove Tuesday and how Christians remember how Jesus was tempted in the desert but he did not give in to temptation.

The Guizer Jarl 1936 – Mr James W. P. Angus

Thomas took in a photo of his Great Grandad – Mr James W.P. Angus who was Guizer Jarl in 1936. He also took in a copy of the official programme from 1936. The programme was in black and white but it was great to see the colours of the Jarl’s suit in the photograph. The programme cost 2 pence in 1939, the 2016 programme cost £3.80! I think Thomas looks very proud of his Great Grandad, can you see a resemblance?

Change your words, change your mindset!

We have been learning about fixed mindset and growth mindset. Having a growth mindset helps us have a positive outlook which allows us to continually progress and improve, even when we find things really difficult. A mixed mindset gives us a negative outlook which makes it really difficult to keep going and persevere. A fixed mindset often results in giving up on something when it gets difficult. We all want to have a growth mindset that welcomes a challenge! We are beginning to understand that we need to be challenged in school so that we can improve and progress.

Investigating Sinking and Floating

We carried out a science experiment to learn about sinking and floating. We chose objects to investigate then we completed our hypothesis to say which objects we thought would sink and which would float. Once we carried out our experiment we recorded our results and compared them with our hypothesis. It was great fun!
