Sunday Teas Fundraiser

Thank-you to everyone who came to our Sunday Teas fundraiser on Sunday. We made an amazing £1,348.67! The money will go into the school fund, the bairns are still deciding how we should spend the money. We have decided to spend some of  the money on buying picnic benches for our playground. We all had a lovely day on Sunday, it was great to see so many former pupils and staff of North Roe Primary School there looking at the display of old school photos.

Thank-you to Arlene, Isla, Chevonne, Christine, Sharon, Harriet and Janetta for preparing all the food, serving tea and helping in the very busy kitchen.

Thank-you to everyone who kindly baked for the teas and made jam, toffee etc for our cake stall – there’s too many people to name!

Thank-you to everyone who donated raffles, bric-a-brac and clothes.

Thank-you to Bethany for selling all the raffle tickets.

Thank-you to our pupils Mairianne, Vaila, Scott, Thomas and John for all your help.

Thank-you to everyone who let us take copies of your school photos for the school photo display.

Thank-you to Janetta and Isla for creating the fantastic display of school photos from 1920 – 2016.

And thank-you to everyone who came on the day, hope to see you all at our Sunday Teas again next year!

I really appreciate everyone’s help in making this event a huge success, thank-you all.

Miss Irvine

I didn’t get many photos taken because we were so busy! Here’s a few I took at the start and end of the day.

Wild about Scotland

Jamie came into school to talk to us about conservation. He told us that beavers became extinct in Scotland but they got 4 families of Beavers from Norway and have introduced them back into Scotland. We had to work in teams to build a dam like a beaver would. The challenge was to make the dam so good that water wouldn’t get through. We timed how long it took for the water to get through the dam and then we had another go, the record was 18 seconds! We had a great afternoon learning about wildlife in Scotland.

IMG_1411IMG_1412

My presentation was about the Delting disaster. My great grandad charlie laurenson opened the memorial 100 years after the storm. Hom bru made a song called the sang o da Delting lass  and that song tells a story about a lass who lost her man in the Delting disaster and it makes me cry every time. By Mairianne
