Outdoor Education

On Friday Auntie Alex and Nikki came to do outdoor education with us. At first we had a meeting to decide what we all should do. Thomas, Ronan and I made a den. I cut some of the tree and made a porch that you can stand up in and even a sitting room. Then we all tried to light the fire then Ardan got it lit and then we roasted marshmallows and then melted chocolate. It was very fun. By Mairianne img_2254img_2275img_8567img_8618img_2331

Toasting Marshmallows

On Friday we ate marshmallows on the fire and when we were eating them Ardan’s one went on fire and Scott, Thomas, Ardan, Mairianne and me all blew the fire and it went out and all was well. And we made seed balls for the birds in the trees. I like when we got marshmallows. By Vailaimg_8571img_8605img_8614

Outdoor Education

We had so much fun on Friday afternoon. Nikki and Alex came to school with lots of exciting things for us to use and explore outside. We enjoyed making food for the birds, making dens in the trees, making a campfire and toasting marshmallows! We are going to be developing our playground area to create more exciting opportunities for outdoor education. img_2249img_2269img_2325img_2352img_8573img_8574img_8586img_8608img_8616

Thomas on Target!

dsc_3448 img_2415

We have been learning about the Native Americans and how they used arrows to kill animals as large as buffalo. Hunters approached their prey on foot or on horse back, accurately targeting them for food for the tribe. The Native Americans respected the Earth and all the animals so they would never kill more than they needed to survive. Thomas took in pictures to show us of him using a bow and arrow. Thomas managed to hit the target on the blue, black and red circles. Great effort Thomas 🙂
