We had great fun in the role play area yesterday. Primary 1 and 2 are learning about people who help us so we were pretending we were doctors in a hospital.

We had a peerie tea party for our amazing learning support assistant Isla before she went off on maternity leave. We wanted to say thanks to Isla for everything she does for the school, we’re going to miss her lots but we’re looking forward to her coming back next year. Thank-you for being such a great learning support assistant Isla. 🙂

Scott’s Famous Friday presentation was all about James Herriot. James Herriot was a British veterinary surgeon and writer, who used his many years of experiences as a veterinary surgeon to write a series of books each consisting of stories about animals and their owners. It was easy to see why Scott is inspired by James Herriot because not only does Scott love reading, he also wants to be a vet when he grows up. Scott created a great poster at home, on the poster it said ‘James Herriot inspires me because he loved and cared for animals and worked hard and well with other people. I want to be a vet when I’m older because I love animals. I want to work hard and care for animals like James Herriot did’. You did a great presentation Scott, I’m very proud of you!

Ronan did a fantastic presentation on Sir Winston Churchill. He made a great poster at home containing lots of interesting facts. Ronan spoke confidently and answered the children’s questions well. He also drew a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill. Ronan said that Churchill inspires him because he achieved so much and was a very gifted speaker. Churchill gave many important speeches throughout the Second World War that helped to inspire people all over Britain. His speeches gave people hope that Britain could win the war and inspired them to help the war effort in any way they could. Well done Ronan, we all really enjoyed your presentation. 🙂

Today Miss Morrison gave us a test…the marshmallow test! She gave us all one marshmallow each, she told us we could eat it but if we waited 15 minutes and didn’t eat it then she would give us another one so we would have 2 to eat. We found it very difficult, Robbie was closing his eyes because he said if he couldn’t see it he felt less tempted to eat it! Everyone showed a lot of self-control and after 15 minutes we all got another marshmallow. We are learning about fasting in R.M.E, fasting is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. The marshmallow test gave us an insight into how important self-control must be.

The homework task was to prepare a presentation about someone famous that inspires you to present to the whole class in school. Thomas did his presentation on Bear Grylls and what a fantastic presentation it was. Thomas created a prezi at home that was full of interesting information and videos. The whole class was engaged throughout the whole presentation. Thomas took in equipment to show the class and he even dressed in his outdoor clothes for his presentation. Thomas said that Bear Grylls inspires him to go out exploring around North Roe and other places too. Well done Thomas, it was a really great presentation. You were well prepared and it was clear you had put a lot of effort into your presentation. Great job! 🙂
