In Term 4 P1-4 have been learning all about Rainforests. We have created a Rainforest frieze. Can you see all the different animals in amongst the greenery?

Here are a few pictures of the displays we had up in school at the start of this term. The Romans was the topic we had during Term 3. After we arrived back in school after the lock down we completed some art work which linked in – Roman shields, Roman soldiers, mosaics and Aqueducts. We even used the shields to make the Roman Army defensive position called the testudo or “tortoise”.
A competition is being run for Shetland Primary pupils to design a brand new “SIC Sport and Leisure Mascot”.
There are 3 separate entry categories for the competition– P1/2, P3/4 and P5-7 , with the winning entry in each age group winning a prize. An ‘overall winner’ will then be chosen and the design will be passed to Art Machine for them to create a set of graphics. The competition organisers are hoping the designs will be inspired by Shetland as well as Physical Activity in the very broadest sense!
Click below for the entry form and details. Closing date for entries are Friday 19th February.
P1-4 enjoyed dressing in yellow and/or spots on Children in Need Day. They all looked super. During the day they coloured in countless Pudseys and they also designed their own Children in Need Cupcake. They put a lot of effort into making them neat and colourful. Even though they’re just pictures they look good enough to eat!
As part of their work on Shape P1-4 painted shapes which tessalate. That means they fit together without leaving any gaps. They also made symmetrical butterflies by painting one side and then folding to print the other. Both displays have brightened up the classroom.
Primary 1-4 enjoyed dressing up for Halloween today. They each made a bat mobile to take home to add to their Halloween decorations. They’d also like to say a big THANK YOU to the Parent Council for giving them all a Scare Pack and organising an online Party for them.
P1-4 chose to work on a Dinosaur project this term. We have already found out about how fossils and dinosaur bones help us to know what the dinosaurs were like. One day we went to the multi-court with a trundle wheel to measure out just to how long a Brachiosaurus really was. We discovered there would just be enough room for one to fit in! This week we have painted some dinosaurs. No-one really knows exactly what colours they were, so we thought about their habitats and then decided on colours!
P1-3 made some colourful calendars involving painting and careful cutting and sticking. Aren’t they beautiful.
