Roman Displays

Here are a few pictures of the displays we had up in school at the start of this term. The Romans was the topic we had during  Term 3. After we arrived back in school after the lock down we completed some art work which linked in – Roman shields, Roman soldiers, mosaics and Aqueducts. We even used the shields to make the Roman Army defensive position called the testudo or “tortoise”.

Welcome to Week 6

Hopefully, P1-3, this will be the last week of Home Learning. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 23rd February if the First Minister confirms your return to school.
This is a short week for you as there is an In-service Day for staff on Thursday and then Friday is a holiday. Monday 22nd February is also a holiday.

As Thursday is an In-service day Mrs Holden has put the Literacy and Numeracy work up for you today. Topic this week is all about the Roman gods.

Music

Dr Justice will put your music activity on teams as usual, but I am also putting a link to it here. It’s a fun dance one this week that the whole family can get involved in!

Mascot Design Competition

A competition is being run for Shetland Primary pupils to design a brand  new “SIC Sport and Leisure Mascot”.

There are  3 separate entry categories for the competition– P1/2, P3/4 and P5-7 , with the winning entry in each age group winning a prize.  An ‘overall winner’ will then be chosen and the design will be passed to Art Machine for them to create a set of graphics. The competition organisers are hoping the designs will be inspired by Shetland as well as Physical Activity in the very broadest sense!

Click below for the entry form and details. Closing date for entries are Friday 19th February.

Welcome to Week 4

Well here we are in February already. I hope you have all been out enjoying the snow. Thank you once again for those of you who have sent pictures of work and also those who returned work to school last week. I can see that you have all been working very hard.

Well done and keep it up. I know it isn’t always easy to concentrate on schoolwork when you are at home but you are doing a super job.

I have posted the Literacy and Numeracy for today and also the Topic work for the  week.

Also, why not have a go at the Active Schools – Active Every Day Challenge for February. Details are on the school website.
