Our week started with our Easter assembly and traditional egg rolling on the slope in our grounds. It was a super afternoon. Pupils decorated their eggs and rolled them safely down the hill. They were also reminded of the symbolism of the festival.
The weather has been amazing so all classes have taken their learning outside this week. Pupils have responded well to this.
This week p12 have been creating play dough trolls for their talk for writing project about the 3 Billy goats gruff. P2 have been adding 9 and they’ve been outdoors learning a lot and doing their daily mile. P34 have been learning about coordinates, the human body and how mammals feed their young. P56 have been trip trapping over our bridge and innovating their own stories using the 3 Billy goats take as a backbone. We can’t wait to read what they come up with. They have also been working at their fractions and improper fractions. P67 have been using Lego to build models as part of our whole school play pedagogy approach where play helps pupils develop their creatively and problem solving. They have visit the Carers and Elderly club playing games with them snd doing a demonstration of a Boston two step. They have taken their maths outdoors and learned how to respond to an allergic reaction in an emergency.
Next week we are have a Team Improvement visit. A team of local head teachers and Quality improvement officers will be in school for three days from Wednesday. They will be focused on the experience our pupils are having at our school and feeding back to us with strengths and action points. We will be doing the Redd Up around Hamnavoe on Friday afternoon. We’d love to see lots of helpers. We leave the school at 130pm. Please let us know if you can help.
Finally, well done to all our star badge winners and don’t forget to make your Wider Achievement nominations. I’m sure there are lots of new boating, crofting and out of doors experiences happening. Happy weekend Hamnavoe!
