Term 4 Week 12

🌟 Primary 3/4 Weekly Round-Up – Term 4, Week Twelve

As we reached our final week together, we packed lots of fun, celebration and reflection into our last few days. It has been a wonderful way to finish an incredible year together.

🌳 School Trip

We started the week with our much-anticipated school trip to Bigton Farm. The children enjoyed meeting the animals and learning all about how the farm works and the jobs involved in looking after it.

Afterwards, we headed to Bigton Park, where we enjoyed a picnic together before spending time playing in the park. We finished our day with a visit to the beach, where everyone had great fun paddling in the water and enjoying the beautiful Shetland weather. It was a fantastic day and a lovely opportunity to make more special memories together.

✏️ Literacy

This week we read the wonderfully funny story The Disgusting Sandwich.

The children used our remaining Play-Doh to create some truly imaginative (and very disgusting!) sandwiches before using all of the writing skills they have developed this year to create their own recipe pages. They included ingredients, instructions and reviews, making excellent use of adjectives, adverbs, sentence openers and speech marks to bring their writing to life.

It was fantastic to see how confidently the children were able to apply so many of the skills they have learned throughout the year.

🔢 Maths

We spent some time consolidating our maths learning by revisiting time in a fun and creative way.

The children designed their own magical maps before creating journeys between different locations. They calculated how long each journey would take and challenged one another to solve time problems using the maps they had created.

We also completed some final maths activities and handwriting practice to round off the term.

🌟 P3/4’s Got Talent

One of the highlights of the week was our very own P3/4’s Got Talent show!

Every child had the opportunity to share a talent with the class, either individually or with friends. We were treated to an amazing variety of performances including:

  • Magic shows
  • Gymnastics
  • Football skills
  • Dinosaur facts
  • And many more!

The children showed incredible confidence, encouraged one another throughout every performance and celebrated everyone’s achievements. It was a wonderful afternoon and a fantastic reminder that everyone has their own unique talents to share.

🎉 Wider Learning

We enjoyed watching the P7 Leavers’ Assembly, celebrating the achievements of our oldest pupils as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.

Towards the end of the week, we celebrated together with our class party, enjoying games, music, dancing and lots of laughter.

We also completed an end-of-term Blooket quiz, testing our knowledge of the many facts and topics we have explored throughout the year before finishing the week with a well-earned movie together.

As this is our final class blog of the year, I simply want to say thank you. It has been an absolute privilege to teach this wonderful class throughout my probation year. They have filled every day with curiosity, laughter, kindness and enthusiasm, and I feel incredibly lucky that my first year in teaching has been spent with such an amazing group of children.

Thank you to all of the families for your support, encouragement and kindness throughout the year. It has been greatly appreciated. I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing summer break, and I wish all of the children every success and happiness as they move on to their next adventure. I know they will all continue to shine. 🌈❤️
