Fantastic effort from Cullivoe Primary School

Wow, what a day we have had at the Cullivoe Primary School!

Ruby and Poppy were in charge of taking note of how long we danced for each song and counted this up to give us a total of 77 minutes and 48 seconds danced through the course of the day!

We raised £45 from selling badges and £351 from people sponsoring us to do our Just Dance which brings our total to £396 which Miss Nicholson then rounded up to £400!

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that sponsored us, all the pupils and staff for their enthusiasm when dancing and giving it their all and a big thank you to primary 7 who organised this all!

£400 will be on its way to Children In Need thanks to everyone at the Cullivoe Primary School!

Children in Need

Today we are raising money for Children In Need by doing a sponsored Just Dance. We have cleared the classroom and are ready to go when the whistle blows. (This is when we all have to stop what we are working on and go into the downstairs classroom and keep dancing until the second whistle blows, then we have to return back to our work)

Primary 7 have organsied everything. They have made a list of songs they want to dance to so Miss Nicholson has loaded them on the laptop so we just have to press play. They have also sorted everyone into groups so after music we will all have different stations to move around:

  • Beth’s group is going to be colouring in/wordsearch.
  • Jasmine is going to be reading stories about children in need
  • Tali is going to talk about where our money goes
  • Amanda is going to be doing a warm up

They have also ordered pudsey padges and are selling them for £1.

We will keep you posted on how the day is going and how much we raise!!

Global Goals

The eco committee have been learning about the United Nations  Global Goals. They have created presentations to tell the younger children what they have been learning.

P4 and 5 created a rap to tell us about the United Nations and how there are 17 global goals.

The eco committee looked through all these goals and chose ‘Life Below Water’ to focus on this year.

Primary 6 created a presentation about this to tell us more. They explained what sea pollution is and how this affects animals that live underwater. They told us that we should always put our rubbish in the bin and gave us ideas of who we could speak to to learn more.

Shoebox Appeal

This year after receiving a presentation at the correct level for the children all about the shoebox appeal, what it does and where it goes, the pupil council took a unanimous decision in taking part in this appeal. They sent out letters to each family and have taken on the responsibility of wrapping, sorting through all the items and filling the boxes. Primary 7 have done a fantastic job of supporting the younger children in doing so.

We have outdone ourselves this year as we have managed to wrap and fill an amazing……41 boxes!! There are a mixture of boxes for babies all the way up to elderly women.

We would like to say a huge thank you to anyone who has donated items to help us with this very worthy cause!

Welcome Back!!

We would like to say a huge welcome back to everyone. How fast did the October holidays go?!

Everyone has grown and had lots of news to share about their holidays which was great to hear. We have had a great first day back with eco work, recorders, holiday writing, learning about Halloween and dancing to Just Dance which worked up a right sweat!

Monica showed us how well she is doing with her recorder. She had been playing over the holidays and learnt 3 new tunes, so a huge well done to her for her hard work!

Heidi was also keen to learn the recorder as she got one for Christmas so she stayed back after school and learnt the notes G, A and B and can now play Hot Crossed Buns which is fantastic!

Miss Nicholson brought us back a present from her holiday in Majorca. It was a variety of different seeds: tomatoes, rainbow rose, rainbow corn, baby water melons and a flower that looks like a monkey called funny monkey!

We are intruiged to see if they will grow up here and can’t wait to plant them as an experiment!

Macmillan Coffee morning

The pupil council have organised a coffee morning for Macmillan tomorrow, the 5th of October, from 10am to 11:15am. We would love to see as many people as possible to help us support such a worthy cause.

The younger children are busy learning about the charity and what they do in order to make posters to go up in the canteen whilst the pupil council decorate the canteen so we are all set for tomorrow morning.

We are all going to be baking tonight so there will be lots of lovely goodies for you to try. We hope to see you there!
