Instrumental Instruction

Music is a powerful and universal form of communication which makes a significant contribution within Scottish education, providing distinctive opportunities for learners to express themselves and to develop their imagination and creativity.
from “Guidance for Instrumental Teaching in Scotland”

Instrumental instruction is provided by instructors either in one-to-one or group lessons lasting 25 minutes during the school day. Lessons are given on a rota basis ensuring that pupils do not miss the same school subject each week to attend their instrumental lesson.

There is currently no charge for instrumental instruction. Further information may be obtained from the Shetland Islands Council Children’s Services Education Department based at Hayfield House, or by following this link
