Making Polish Lunch

On Friday we made golabki and strawberry pierogi. Golabki is cabbage wrapped up with meat, (herbs parsley, marjoram) and onions and a little bit of pepper. Strawberry pierogi are strawberries wrapped up with pastry mix. First we cut the cabbage but we had help for that from an adult. We finely chopped onions then we put it into 2 bowls to make more mixture. Honor and Rosie got the meat and put half of the meat in each bowl. We put the parsley and marjoram in the bowls then we beat and cracked the eggs. When the cabbages were ready from cooking in the oven, we pulled the cabbage leaves carefully off so the leaves didn’t snap. Then we put the mince mixture in the cabbage leaves and wrapped the mince in the leaves like a parcel then we put them in  the oven.

The strawberry pierogi is very easy to make. You get warm water and get pasta flour in a bowl and mix it together and you knead it and keep putting in more warm water. Then you roll the mixture to make it thin and you cut the strawberries in half and quarters. You  then get a circle cutter to cut circles out of the pastry then you put the strawberries in the middle and pinch it around the edges. Then the pastry goes in the oven.

I enjoyed baking the golabki and the strawberry pierogi.
