Harvesting our crops

Today we had to harvest our bere so that it didn’t turn old so we got our jackets on and the big ones got a pair of scissors then we went outside and we started to cut, the little ones got to hold the crops. We got all off the pieces of bere together and then we tied it up together and then we put it near the bike racks and left it to dry. Shetlands tradition is growing crops. In the olden days the people would grow them to make bread. Bere was used to make bere meal they would use it to make bere meal bread.
