Supporting Learning at Home

Parents and Carers have an important role to play in supporting their young person to succeed in school and achieve their potential.

Each Faculty Area will have provided subject specific suggestions on how you can support your young person with their subject learning.  In relation to learning in PSE our young people are living and breathing the PSE programme; Relationships and Sexual Health, Personal Safety, Planning for Choices and future careers; Substance Use.  Some parents and carers may find it difficult to talk to their young person about these “sensitive” topics. Use the information from the PSE Programme pages to open up conversations about these important issues.

The role of the Pastoral Team is to support the overall, holistic development of your young person. Below you will find some generic suggestions on how you can support learning at home.

Support for Emotional Wellbeing

Unfortunately, there may be times when our young people are struggling with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.  There are a range of supports available both online and in person. Your young person should be encouraged to speak with their Pastoral Teacher in the first instance, who will be able to signpost supports or to make a referral to the School Nurse or our Resilience Practitioner from Quarriers.

Key Online Supports have been downloaded onto the Inspire Ipads.
