Teacher Development Fund Project: 2022-2024

In partnership with Live Music Now Scotland, we secured funding for a 2-year music residency in 4 South Ayrshire schools.  A video about the impact of our project is available HERE

The 2-year investment from PHF enabled teachers and musicians to blend the transformative power of music with the boundless potential of education. The partnership with Live Music Now Scotland, South Ayrshire Instrumental Music Service, schools, and the support of the PHF team has been enriching, challenging, and uplifting. This project was an incredible opportunity for our teachers, leaders, and pupils to experience. It has been a unique partnership which has created inspiring and life-changing experiences for all involved. Through the project, teachers and musicians were able to explore the intersection of music and education, learning new teaching techniques and collaborating to plan and deliver creative activities which have impacted learners. The success of our project is due to the enthusiasm, passion, and commitment of all involved. It is not easy to make yourself professionally vulnerable. To admit there is something you find challenging, for example, teaching music. To expose oneself in such a way takes great courage. Each individual teacher has become more confident. Each has found a way to integrate musical activity more regularly into their practice. For some, the confidence to share this with others is evident, for others, it is quieter. Each is stronger because of this project. TDF funding enabled a strong bond to be forged between project leads and to create a successful collaborative environment within which the musicians and teachers had the freedom and space to thrive.
