Rights Respecting School

Monkton Primary’s Rights Respecting School group is a group of pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7 with Mrs Stevenson and Miss Foy. In February 2019, we were accredited with our Gold award. This award is from UNICEF to show that we have fully embedded Children’s Rights in our policies, practice and ethos. It is a huge achievement and one that our pupils, parents and staff are all very proud of.

Charters

At the beginning of each session, all classes create and agree to a class charter, which is signed by all pupils and adults in the class before being displayed in a way that is meaningful to the pupils. The charters are specific to the needs of the class and can vary across the school. Further to this, the RRS group also create and agree to the following school charters for this session:

Dining Hall Charter

Playground Charter

Sports Hall Charter

Whole School Charter

Right of the Fortnight

We have recently introduced a ‘Right of the Fortnight’, which is a whole school focus on a particular Right. These topics will normally be introduced in school and follow up PowerPoints will be found on our website so that pupils can further explore these Rights at home. Our latest Right of the Fortnight can be found here.
