MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND A
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Our school is not just a place of learning for young people. It is important that the adults in our school have opportunities to learn and develop new skills as well.
This morning, Teacher of the Deaf Chantal, and hearing impaired volunteer Margaret, spent the morning delivering a crash course in British Sign Language to the Fisherton Primary staff.
The staff will use this new skill to help develop BSL as part of our 1+2 modern languages programme and also to meet the needs of the pupils in our school.
Well done to all the staff – gold cards all round!
Please remember that the children will be having their Christmas Party tomorrow afternoon from 1:15-3:00pm (Wednesday 21st Dec)
Children are welcome to go home for lunch and change or get changed in class after lunchtime.
The children from the Early Years Centre are asked to be at school no later than 2pm to help us welcome a VERY special visitor from the North Pole!
“I was very pleased to have been able to attend the Christmas Show this morning. The show was very well thought out with a great theme. Well done to the pupils and staff for making this such an excellent show. A lot of superb talent. Fisherton might be a a small school but it definitely has a big heart. Thanks, you made my day.”

Christmas is coming and in the Wee Class the decorations have started!!
Burns Alicht is a brand new family event taking place in Alloway on Sat 28 Jan 2017!
Use the promo code SPARKLE to receive a 20% discount on tickets from www.ayrgaiety.co.uk (Promo code valid until Christmas Eve) For more info see www.burnsfestival.com
In the ‘wee class’ P1-4 like using a safety circle when sitting on the carpet. We can easily see who is missing from school and it helps us to always look and listen to the person that is speaking.
The safety circle is organised in alphabetical order which also helps us to remember our alphabet!
I know what a busy time of year this can be for families and children, with parties, Christmas shows and many other exciting activities happening after school. For this reason, I will not be issuing P1-4 with homework this week. The children have all worked hard and deserve a wee rest (as do the mums and dads).
Normal homework will resume after the Christmas holidays.
Please contact me at the school if you wish to discuss anything further.
Kind regards,
Mrs Gillian McDowell
Today we are getting started on some Christmas crafts. We are making wee Christmas trees or tree decorations using glue, string and glitter.
We will use this experience to write instruction for our term 2 writing assessment.
