Christmas Lunch
The pupils, parents and staff at Fisherton Primary School and EYC enjoyed a wonderful Christmas lunch together today.
Thank you to our dinner ladies for the day Stephanie and Ann Marie and the dinner ladies at Doonfoot PS Kitchen for preparing and serving up such a delicious lunch.
Thank you also to the staff who made wonderful waiters and waitresses and made sure lunch ran smoothly and everyone was well fed.
A final thank you to the boys, girls and parents who added a touch of Christmas spirit to the festivities.
Christmas Lunch
Tomorrow we will be having our school Christmas lunch.
I am looking forward to seeing all the boys, girls, mums, dads and chidlren from the EYC …. and the teachers(!) wearing their Christmas jumpers.
The hall is all set and looks fabulously festive … lunch will be served at 12:!5pm.
Gingerbread House
The children in the nursery have been busy making a gingerbread house to play in, we decorated the roof with glitter, and made some red white and green candy canes. We made a cosy fire with fairy lights and cellophane and decorated the house with tinsel. The children enjoy reading stories to each other
Maths Challenge – Party Planners
Today P5-7 worked in teams to plan and organise a pretend end of term Christmas Party for 100 children and invited guests. It was to be an evening party with food, drinks, décor and entertainment.
This was a super opportunity to put our mathematical skills to the test. We made use of fractions and percentages to work out VAT at 20%, information handling to interpret and organise survey results, measurement to calculate decorations required and calculations using time to plan for setting up and DJ time slots.
I was very impressed with the cooperation and problem solving skills displayed during this task …. and would not hesitate to book any of our young party planners for my next party!
Christmas Nativity
Due to staff absence and sickness, I have had to make the difficult decision to postpone our Christmas Nativity Performance.
I appreciate all the hard work the children and staff have put in to the performance and am committed to showcasing this achievement before the Christmas holidays.
It is my intention to re-arrange the nativity for the morning and evening of Tuesday 20th December. Times and ticket arrangements will remain the same, however if you have any difficulties with this please contact the school and we will try to accommodate you.
As always your help and understanding is appreciated and as they say … “the show must go on!”

Safety Circle
In the ‘wee class’ P1-4 like using a safety circle when sitting on the carpet. We can easily see who is missing from school and it helps us to always look and listen to the person that is speaking.
The safety circle is organised in alphabetical order which also helps us to remember our alphabet!
P1-4 News
I know what a busy time of year this can be for families and children, with parties, Christmas shows and many other exciting activities happening after school. For this reason, I will not be issuing P1-4 with homework this week. The children have all worked hard and deserve a wee rest (as do the mums and dads).
Normal homework will resume after the Christmas holidays.
Please contact me at the school if you wish to discuss anything further.
Kind regards,
Mrs Gillian McDowell
