Alloway Burns’ Supper

Well done to William and Harry who were chosen to perform, “Address to a Haggis,” at the Alloway Burns’ Supper at Ayr Town Hall. Both boys performed with confidence and did a great job memorising the poem. They also got to enjoy performances from other schools and a special Scottish snack.

Mock Court

On Monday 21st January, children from p7/6 attended a mock trial at Ayr Sheriff Court. Each child had a role to play such as solicitor, witness, writer, artist and gown maker. The class was split into two teams, the defenders and pursuers. Our pursuers were against Sacred Heart Primary and the defenders were against Fenwick Primary. The case was about damage done during a house party at Mr and Mrs Byte’s house while they were on holiday. The pursuers were trying to claim money back for the damage from the insurance company. Our defenders won their case. Our pursuers gave excellent evidence but their opponents were only found liable for a small amount of the damage.

The whole class worked really hard on this project, which included lots of writing, maths, art and drama. The children enjoyed getting to see a real courtroom and meeting real solicitors and sheriffs.
