Hello and welcome to Primary 6.
We are wonderful writers and marvellous mathematicians with a love of learning.
We have been learning all about the Viking age as a history topic and the class have enjoyed learning all about how people lived and worked in the past, exploring life as a Viking and how life today compares with that of our ancestors.
In writing lessons, we use The Write Stuff and have delved into narrative writing with inspiration from The Gorilla by Anthony Browne and The Present by Jacob Frey. We will continue to further develop our writing skills through fiction and non-fiction genres, daily practising our spelling, punctuation and grammar to support our writing journey. We use Accelerated Reader and Epic and share whole class reading through class novels. Our current novel study is The Boy at the Back of The Class by Onjali Q. Rauf.
In maths, we are Times Table Rock Stars, using the TTRS app in class and at home to support our times table recall and fluency. We rock! In maths lessons, we use a variety of different resources and approaches to make maths learning fun and to ensure we are embedding and developing our maths skills and knowledge.
Health and Wellbeing is important to us. We strive to use a growth mindset…we can do it! We will be learning about food preparation, healthy eating and how to keep our bodies and minds healthy. We explore a variety of sports and team games through our weekly PE sessions.
