Book Fair Visit

Primary 1 have just visited the Book Fair. We looked at lots of different books. There were books about fairies, cats, Lego Ninjago, Spiderman, unicorns and lots more. Children have a ‘post it’ in their homework folders which is a note of the book they would most like to read.

Discovering Elderslie

Last week, Primary 2 took advantage of some lovely weather and set off to explore Elderslie. We have been learning about the differences between living on an island and living on the mainland. This has started us thinking about what makes Elderslie a good place to live and asking why people live here and what we might find on our doorsteps.

Mrs Wilkie and her class set off to the football fields where they could see  houses had been built on the site of a carpet factory. They then crossed over the Brandy Burn and headed into the estate to see how many different types of housing they could see.

Mrs McKinnon and Miss Harper set off towards the shops down by the traffic lights. They found the site of the old swimming pool and also discovered a bowling green, hidden behind what used to be a library and the village hall.

We all walked along the main road looking for the cycle track – no railway station in Elderslie any more! We saw where the old Wallace Primary used to be over 40 years ago! Then it was on to the Wallace Monument,  ruins and tree that celebrate the fact that William Wallace was born here.

We had a wonderful afternoon out with the help of some of our mum volunteers. We know that  if you saw us out and about you would have noticed that we were on our best behaviour!

More Primary 1 Sensational Scientists!

Primary 1 Material Hunt

Last week we went on a material hunt. We explored the playground and classroom for lots of different materials. Waterproof Experiment

We were sensational scientists when we carried out an experiment to find out what materials were waterproof. Some very brave volunteers stood under materials and water was poured over their heads! Who got wet and who stayed dry? Look at some of the photos to find out.

Italian Food Tasting

Dear parents and guardians,

As part of our topic we have recently been learning about Italy. On Tuesday 10th October Primary 4 will experience an “Italian Food Tasting” in class.  There will be a selection of foods for your child to try.  In preparation for this, it would be useful if you could chat about any dietary requirements they need to be aware of.

Thanks

Miss Satera & Mr Paterson

P5 Chinese visitors

As our topic is China, Miss Montgomery invited her Chinese friends in to tell us all about their life in Beijing.  Kaibo and Wenqi also taught us how to say hello, thank you and the numbers 1-5 in Mandarin.  In return, we taught them the numbers 1-5 in Gaelic and German!  We really enjoyed learning about the similarities and differences between life in China and in Scotland.

Shape Week!

Primary 1 have been learning about 2D shapes this week.  We have enjoyed making ‘Mr Men’ and ‘Little Miss’ characters with shapes and went on a ‘Shape Hunt’ in the playground, classroom and corridors!
