Renfrewshire Schools Road Race

Members of P7 will be participating in the Renfrewshire Schools road race on Tuesday 14th November 2017 at the ON-X Centre in Linwood. Those taking part will require a packed lunch and a bottle of water to take to the event. Please also ensure that suitable outdoor running footwear and clothing are worn i.e. tracksuits/joggers and t-shirts, waterproof jackets and trainers. Pupils should come to the school wearing their running clothes.

Quality Questions

In Literacy, some of Primary 5 have been about literal, inferential and evaluative questions.  We can explain what they are and recognise each type of question.  We have spent time discussing them in detail, explaining why it’s useful to know this and sorting questions into each category.  Our next step will be to create and answer some literal, inferential and evaluative questions of our own.

Learning about Literal, Inferential and Evaluative questions

Working together to sort questions into categories.  It wasn’t an easy task and everyone did extremely well!

Primary 1 E.R.I.C. Time

Primary 1 have been enjoying E.R.I.C. Time (Everyone Reading In Class).

We have been choosing books that we have read together from the class library to read with a ‘Reading Buddy’.

We can talk about the front cover, back cover, spine, title, author, illustrator and blurb before we read.  We are also beginning to discuss setting, characters and how the story makes us feel.

Tag-n-Track Project

This week was the second of three in our Tag-n-Track Project workshops. Hayley Douglas, Tag-n-Track Development Officer from Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park visited P7 to talk about a gull tagging project with the students. We learned how the project tags 12 local gulls and tracks them in their travels over the period of the project. It was really interesting this week because we got to see where the gulls had been and we talked about what they might be doing visiting these places. Now that it’s getting into the colder weather we were happy to see that our gulls were off getting a bit of sunshine visiting France, Spain and Portugal and some going further afield into Africa with Morocco also being a hit holiday destination for some of our feathered friends.

Skills 2 Go Workshop

P7 visited Castlehead High School on Thursday morning for a Skills 2 Go workshop. Here the students were split into teams with an S6 student as leader and they were tested on how well they could work as a team by being asked to complete several different challenges. Each team member had a specific role in the team and the challenges included Sudoku, a word search, creating a dream student poster and building a tower from balloons and sticky tape.
