Primary 2-Homework w/b 20.1.20

Growth Mindset Questionnaire

Thanks to all parents/carers who have already completed a post intervention questionnaire. As it went in school bags just before Christmas (busy time) I have reissued to those parents who completed a questionnaire prior to the start of the project. Thanks again for the time taken to complete this.

Homework Tasks this week-

Reading– core reader (reading book);

Spelling– spelling pattern ow- the common words this week are ask and food

Please encourage your child to:

Say the word   e.g. snow

Break it into the sounds e.g. s- n-ow(3 sounds)

Blend it- s…n….ow…(stretching out each sound)

Write it (whilst covering the word)

Check it (against the written format)

If possible, tackle one column of spelling on two different nights. Children would benefit from writing a simple sentence this term- starting with a Capital letter, remember finger spaces and to finish with a full stop/other end punctuation.

There will be a spelling dictation on Friday this week.

Talking Homework-We will mark Burns night (25th January) by celebrating scots language and music through story, songs, rhymes and dance this week.  Children should ask someone at home about their favourite Scottish word and find out what it means.  Be ready to share this with the class on Friday.

Maths- Children have been learning to read numbers to twenty. Colour or  join to match. On the reverse take the opportunity to practise writing number words from ten to twenty.

Please bring homework folders/reading books daily, as children will need these at various times during the week.

Thanks for your support with homework. Ms Crawford
