Through learning in Science, children and young people develop their interest in, and understanding of the living, material and physical world. At St James’ children will be provided with opportunities to engage in a range of collaborative investigative tasks which allow them to develop important skills to become creative, inventive and enterprising which are important for learning, life and work.
The science curriculum includes the study of;
- Planet Earth
- Forces, Electricity and Waves
- Materials
- Biological Systems
- Topical Science
At St James’ the science curriculum can often be taught in an interdisciplinary way through topics or as a stand alone subject. Work in Science is often linked to literacy, numeracy and skills in technology (STEM).
Our learners are encouraged to ask questions, plan and carry out experiments, collect and record evidence and report on their findings. We aim to encourage a lifelong interest in Science.
