Return to School Information for August 2020

As we are making our final preparations for our return to school in August 2020, we have attached some important information below which will tell you everything you need to know. As always, this information is subject to change – where this is required, we will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

You should have received a text message from the school today which informed you as to which group your child is in – please check the text to ensure you access the appropriate letter below based on the group your child has been allocated to. This information letter will let you know which days your child should attend and also any information about staggered start and finish times to help us maximise learning time on our return.

Please click on the links below to access the relevant information for your child. If you haven’t received a text message today, please contact the school office who can provide the required information and update your contact details.

We appreciate your patience and co-operation throughout this period of significant change. Please be reassured that we are doing everything we can to ensure a safe return to school for all pupils and staff.

If you have any questions with regard to any of this information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

✨School Update✨

We know that there is lots of discussion about education and schools in the media and recognise that this is a  time of uncertainty for everyone in our school community.

Please be assured that behind the scenes, we are working hard within local and national guidance to prepare recovery plans which will allow the safe return of pupils and staff to school.  You can read an update from the Director of Children’s Services, Steven Quinn, here.

When we have the answers and plans, we will share them with you as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and support during this time and want you to know that the safety and wellbeing of our children and staff is, as always, paramount.

We will be in touch very soon to share plans to support our new Primary 1 pupils and our current Primary 7 pupils with transition support at the end of the month. We are really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones too.

In the meantime, please remember that we are still here. Here to support the pupils on their learning journey and also to support our school community – if you need to get in touch you can do so via our email, social media channels, Seesaw and by replying to a text message.

You will have received a text today with a link to our Annual Parent/Carer Survey – you can also access it by clicking here.  The survey remains open until 6pm on the 11th June – your views are essential to our planning for next session and beyond, and we would really appreciate it if you could spare a few minutes to share these with us.

Coping During COVID: Children and Families Wellbeing Support

We are all aware of the challenges, pressures and stresses that have arisen during the COVID-19 crisis and the unusual circumstances we all find ourselves in.

To help children and families with wellbeing concerns arising during the COVID-19 school closure period, Renfrewshire Educational Psychology Service have set up a new service and it is already receiving positive feedback.

This service can be via email, call-back and signposting all  staffed by Educational Psychologists and Specialist Teachers, with an agreed level of confidentiality to parents and children.

The Support Helpline can be accessed by any Renfrewshire or Children’s Services Partnership team. If you feel that this would be of benefit to you or your family, then please get in touch with us through the current communication channels:

We are here to help and look forward to hearing from you.

Home Learning Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey – we have already started to take on board your ideas. For example, the launch of Seesaw last week which has been an amazing success.

The results speak for themselves, however we want to stress to you that we understand this is a difficult time for everyone but we are all in this together. Please don’t worry that you are not doing enough or that it seems other people are doing things differently. Do what you can, when you can – make sure your family are happy and healthy and let us know when or what we can do to help. The building may be closed, but the St David’s community is still here.

HT Update – End of week

We are now at the end of our 4th week of Home Learning and I would like to take this opportunity again to let you know how incredibly proud we all are to be part of the St David’s community.

It has been wonderful to hear from so many of you on the phone, via text, by email and on the Facebook page. We hope to speak to even more of you next week. Please remember we are always here if you need anything at all.

We want to make sure that we are getting Home Learning right for everyone and have created a brief survey to gather your opinions. It should only take a couple of minutes to complete and as always, your feedback is invaluable to determining our next steps.

You can access the survey by clicking on this link:  https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=oyzTzM4Wj0KVQTctawUZKT3Ew0Z-Q85Bv5om4Pf6v_NUMTRCTVJKWUpXR1IxVVJVSEFJOENOMkRUMi4u

Good job!

One of our pupils shared their fantastic progress in handwriting today. He was really proud to show me how much he has improved and what a lovely way to start the week. Well done!

Active Schools Dance

Today I was invited along to the final Active Schools Dance club to watch the girls perform the dance routine they have been working on. It was lovely to see everyone participating in an activity which they clearly love and finding a way to have an active lifestyle in the future.

We have some very talented dancers! Fantastic way of demonstrating our shared value of Together.
