Renfrewshire’s Free Rewards Campaign

If you live or work in Renfrewshire and would like to earn rewards and support local businesses and charities, you are invited to sign up to Renfrewshire Council’s exciting new Not Far? Leave the Car campaign, which is now live and runs until the end of December.

The campaign rewards you, through the free to use BetterPoints app, for engaging in a more active and sustainable lifestyle by choosing to walk, run, wheel, cycle and take public transport more often. Participants earn points for their activities, which they can then use to support local businesses by exchanging points earned for exclusive discounts and offers from retailers within the app.  There will also be a host of other rewards and prizes on offer and participants can also choose to donate their rewards to local charities.

Taking part in the challenge is easy:

  • Download the free BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Register your details, join the ‘Not Far? Leave the Car’ programme and use the BetterPoints app to track your active journeys.
  • Reward points are automatically credited to your account for eligible journeys.

The BetterPoints app has helped thousands of people across the UK and Europe to adopt greener and healthier habits.

Kids Church – First Sunday of Lent

On Sunday, we are going to hear about how Jesus spent 40 days praying in the desert, to get closer to God, and to get ready for his ministry.  At the end of this time he was very hungry.

During Lent, let us make a special effort to pray more, to dance more, to find out more about the way we should live our lives.

Use Formed this Lent as it is free and there are lots of videos to watch.

Another app that you can download is Amen where you can get daily reflections and short videos for children.  Lent is going to be busy.

Kids Church – 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus talks about how we have all done things that are wrong.  Instead of picking on the tiny mistakes of others, we should change the things that are not so good about our own behaviour.  Let’s think a bit more about this.

Kids Church will be starting up again during mass.  On the first Sunday in Lent, you are most welcome to come along and think about the message of the Gospel with your friends.  Tell everyone about this good news.

So let us use our hearts, our voices and our bodies to pray and come closer to God this week.

‘Let there be love shared among us’ will be sung at mass this week.  Can you learn it?  Can you sing along with the video?  I hope you can.
