On Friday of this week we have a visiting parent Mr Rousseau coming in to teach us about France.  He is also going to teach us some new French words.  We can’t wait.

Week Beg 19.03.18

Good afternoon!

I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend. Please see below for homework and class news.

Spelling: Our sound this week is ‘ea’ as in tea, sea, treat. In class we will be revising ‘ee’ and ‘e-e’ as well as discussing when ‘e’ is used as a single vowel sound.

Wordwalls: These will continue to be heard.

Reading: New reading books will be issued this week. We have been experimenting with our storyteller voice at read and munch time and I have been very impressed!

Maths: We have been learning about O’Clock this week as well as speaking about our daily timetables and routines. A maths homework sheet will be issued to support this. I have really enjoyed talking to the children about the time of day that they complete different tasks.

Oor Grandparents: A letter was issued about the project last week and I am already hearing several different ideas – it is wonderful! If you have any questions about this project or require paper please let me know.

Open Day: We can’t wait to see you next Tueaday afternoon. (27th). Pupils are looking forward to showcasing their topic work!

Have a great rest of your Sunday and as always, thank you for your support!

Here are some things to keep in mind during the contest:

  • You can play at any time.
  • For the score to count, the Renfrewshire Maths Contest activity must be showing in the green panel on the left of the your screen when you click to start each game.
  • Your score is based on correct answers.
  • A class’s score is the average of the scores from all pupils from that class who take part.
  • To appear on the leaderboard, at least 10 pupils from a class need to play.
  • As some pupils have limited computer access, every pupil is limited to 1000 contest questions. However, your free logins let you keep playing other activities afterwards.

‘Oor Grandparents’ project letter

For those who have not seen the letter handed out yesterday:

It is nearly the end of term 3, already! We have one more project we would like to do before the end of our Katie Morag topic- ‘Oor Grandparents’. We would love the children to talk to their grandparent (or equivalent) about when they were younger and create a small presentation about them. The children could ask questions about what school was like, what hobbies they had, what holidays were like and what their favourite sweets or snacks were. This presentation can be in any form: a story, a poster, a labelled picture or any other way you would like. Our criteria is that the presentation should have a picture of the child’s chosen person (a photograph or drawing) and provide some written information. Children should be able to talk about the person they have chosen to interview and answer questions about them. If your child requires any paper for a poster or story, this can be provided in school. We would like the children to be able to present during the last week of term (26th-29th March). Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this project.

Thank you for your continued support during our additional homework tasks this year.

We had a great time in P2B during our World Book Day! Well done to everyone who came in costume and pyjamas, you looked fantastic. We were lucky enough to read with P7 and P4 today and we had a lovely afternoon creating Cat in the Hat artwork. Remember, you have until this Friday to hand in any Readathon sponsor money.
