P2 “Oor Grandparents”

This letter should be in book bags today.  As part of our Katie Morag topic, we would love the children to talk to a grandparent or equivalent about when they were younger.  They could ask questions about their favourite sweets, games they played, hobbies, holidays they had.   The presentation of this could be a poster, a story, a labelled picture or any other way they like.  Our criteria is that this should include a picture (photo or hand drawn) of the grandparent and provide some written information about that grandparent.  Children should be able to talk about this to the class week beg 26th March.   Thank you for your support.

P2r World book day

We had a wonderful day today.  All the costumes and outfits were fantastic.  Aaron was our costume winner for his homemade Horrid Henry.  Well done.  We can’t wait for you to see our cat in the hat artwork that we created today.  It will be on display on our open day.

We had a great health week last week.  We had lots of visitors including the fire service, a doctor, a podiatrist, nursing staff, Y dance, and a physiotherapist.  The children listened very well and asked some great questions.  Pictures to follow.

On Monday 12th March we are celebrating World Book day.  Pupils can dress in their book character outfits or wear onesies or pajamas.  No donation required.  If your child has completed the readathon they can bring in their sponsor money from Monday.

Have a great week.

Week beg 12.03.18

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you’ve had a super weekend so far. Please see below for homework and class news.

Reading: New reading books will be issued tomorrow.

Spelling: Our sound this week is ‘ay’ as in play, tray, say. We will be discussing how to recognise when to use ‘ay’ and when to use ‘a-e’. Tomorrow I will post some links to online spelling games to help with this.

Wordwalls: These continue to be heard in class. New words may be underlined for your child to learn.

Maths: I absolutely loved reading all the bingo homework sheets. Some great new coin designs and fantastic foreign currency research too! This week a worksheet will be issued to consolidate our understanding of money.

In class we will begin to learn about time. If possible please discuss the idea of routine with your child – eg school starts at 9am, swimming lessons are at 4pm and will last for one hour. This will help children in class as we begin to look at o’clock, half past and the idea of both digital and analogue time.

‘Oor Grandparents’ project: Your child will receive a letter to take home about this final Katie Morag project before the end of term. The children should interview a grandparent (or equivalent) about what it was like when they were younger. They could ask about their favourite sweets, hobbies, school, etc. The children must create a small presentation about their chosen person. This can be in the form of a poster, labelled picture, story- whatever you like! The children must be able to talk about their person and be prepared to answer questions. All the information will be in your child’s letter.

News

It is going to be World Book Day tomorrow in Bishopton Primary! Your child may come as their favourite book character or wear pyjamas to school. If they choose not to wear either, they must come in school uniform. I can’t wait to hear about all your favourite books – I’m reading The Creakers just now and really enjoying it! We will also be having our read & munch with Primary 6G tomorrow. We can’t wait!

Enjoy the week ahead!

Health Week!

Good afternoon,

We had a great Health Week at Bishopton and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you so much to those who brought in lots of exotic fruits for Thursday, we absolutely loved trying new and different fruits. The children met firefighters, nurses, a podiatrist, a physiotherapist and worked hard with active schools- and that’s not even all we got up to! Here are a few snaps from our super healthy week:

World Book Day – Monday 12th March

We will finally have our World Book Day on Monday 12th March. Please dress as a book character or wear your pyjamas to enjoy a fun-filled day to celebrate books and literacy. If you don’t want to dress up or wear pyjamas, please wear your school uniform.

We are looking forward to hearing about all of the books you have read for your sponsored read. Please bring any money you have raised on Monday.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to an exciting day on Monday!

Fruit Cocktails

Thank you very much for bringing in such varied exotic fruit today – there was a huge selection! We discussed the origins of the fruit and even took a guess at what might be inside – we were surprised by some colours and textures.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting session and it was great to see everyone pitching in to help cut, peel and spoon. I was very impressed with today’s teamwork and think you should feel very proud of yourselves.

Health Week has been fantastic so far and pupils are embracing every activity on offer. We’ve had a number of visitors and sporting sessions – I’ll share some snaps tomorrow. Until then – enjoy some well earned rest!

Fruit cocktails

Good evening,

Just a reminder to send a piece of exotic fruit into school with you child tomorrow so that we can make exciting fruit cocktails. Please avoid sending in nuts and kiwis for allergen reasons. We are having a great Health Week and can’t wait to share pictures with you at the end of the week.

Thanks in advance,

Miss B
