Homework: week beginning 2nd May

Hello everyone

Well done to all the wonderful children in Primary two who continue to work hard and have a positive attitude to their spelling homework. Our spelling rule for this week is ‘al.’

Our spelling rule words are:

  1. talk
  2. walk
  3. small
  4. tall

Our common words are:

  1. after
  2. thing
  3. just
  4. our

Spelling words should be written a further twice and at least one sentence using our spelling words. Recognition and understanding of common words is an important part of supporting our reading skills. For fun, the children could try to spot as many common words as they can during the week.

We would love to see the children challenge themselves by growing the spelling rule words. For example, talk – talking, talked.

Please, get in contact if you have any questions.

Many thanks

P2K Entry and Exit

Good Afternoon,

Just a little reminder that due to the current  scaffolding works, P2K will now enter and exit the building from the middle playground.

I hope everyone has a fantastic long weekend.

Thank You,

Numeracy and Maths Homework

Hello everyone,

We hope you have a fabulous long weekend.

We will begin numeracy and maths homework next week. As next week is a short week, we are suggesting that Sumdog or, if preferable, Topmarks, is the Numeracy and Maths homework. From the week beginning 9th May, a new homework grid will resume as normal.

PE information

Hello everyone,

A reminder that PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday each week. This term we will be focusing on athletics. I hope to have as many PE lessons outdoors as possible to enjoy the warmer weather and larger space.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Homework 25/04/22

Hi,

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and looking forward to the summer term. This week our spelling rule is ‘oy’.

  1. joy
  2. annoy
  3. destroy
  4. loyal

Our common words are:

  1. back
  2. give
  3. most
  4. very

Spelling words should be written a further twice. Explore the world around you to identify and read other words that use the “oy” spelling rule. Children should be familiar with the common words and we are focusing on them being able to spell these as well as being able to recognise and read them.

Select one or more one your spelling  words to put into a sentence. The children have been working hard on their sentence structure in Primary 2:

  • Capital letter at beginning of each sentence.
  • Finger spaces between each word.
  • Writing on the line, check formation of letters.
  • Interesting openers.
  • Punctuation, full stop at the end of a sentence.
  • Using nouns and adjectives to expand our sentence.

We would love to see the children challenge themselves by growing the words. For example, annoy – annoyed, annoying

Please, get in contact if you have any questions.

Many thanks

Rainforest Activities

Hello everyone,

We hope you have had a pleasant start to the week. The Primary 2 teachers have planned a lovely afternoon for the children. We would like them to discover the importance of our rainforests, therefore we would like to allow the children to explore different foods which come from tropical environments. This would be a case of smelling, touching and tasting some exotic, exciting foods such as bananas, coffee beans, avocado ect.

We are aware of allergies and will make sure to be mindful of this. If you have any queries or even suggestions please let us know. 🙂

We are planning to carry out this activity on Thursday/Friday.

British Science Week 2022

Hi everyone,

We are super excited at Bishopton this week as it is British Science week. We have some very special visitors coming in all week to talk to the children about how they work in STEM careers. We also have a Science Afternoon planned on Friday to celebrate the theme of this year’s Science Week, which is Growth. You can find the activity packs here: Homepage – British Science Week

There is also a poster competition running for British Science Week that has been posted on the whole school blog.

If you do anything science-related at home, it would be great if you could take some pictures and send them to your teacher. We would love to see what the children have been getting up to.
