P2R update

Not all wordwalls have been given out yet to children this week.  The remainder will be handed out tomorrow and Thursday.   Thank you for your patience with this.  Maths homework was given out today.  Here is a new game we played today in class, looking at adding 2 or more amounts in our money topic.

Good evening.  Homework and news as follows for this week:

Homework

Spelling this week will be a revision of some of our common words.

Reading – Big cats continue this week.

Maths – This week our Maths homework is looking at our number bonds.  In class we do a Big Maths quiz each week in 30 seconds.  This is extra practise for that quiz.   The children try to beat their own score each week.

Here is a game to help you practise:

News

Friday 9th February this week is an Inservice day for teachers so the children are off school.  Please spread the homework over the 3 nights and we will do our small spelling quiz on Thursday.

On Tuesday we will be doing some papier mache in class.  If anyone has any old newspapers they could spare we would be most grateful.

Last week we started our gymnastic block in P.e.  The children loved working on their skills and using the gymnastic spring board,  box and wall bars.

In Maths we continue to work on our money skills.  Here is the game we played last week.

Week beginning 4th February

Good afternoon, homework and news as follows:

Homework

There will be no official maths homework this week, but children should take some time to practice their number bonds to 20, addition and subtraction.

Reading books will be chosen by the children again this week. I really enjoyed discussing their choices and seeing how engaged they were in their reading.

The spelling focus of this week will be common words. Whilst we will be continuing to look at the magic e spelling rule, this gives the children further practice with their common words before the long weekend.

News

This Tuesday we are hoping to begin paper maché sculptures for our classroom, so we will need lots of newspaper! If you have any newspaper that could be donated it would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great week!

P2-4 Food Preparation Masterclass

P2-4 had their first food preparation Masterclass this afternoon. Mrs Simpson, Miss Bartolini and I were very impressed with all of the pupils. They were able to work together to share ingredients and equipment to prepare their own melted snowman empire biscuit. What great team work and positive attitudes everyone had!

A Quick Reminder

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all very well. Children were told in class today but just a short reminder that we will be visiting the Primary 4 bake sale tomorrow to support their Mico Tyco project.

Pupils can bring along a small donation or amount of money in exchange for some cakes.

We are also looking forward to our school Scottish assembly in the afternoon. Tartan can be worn if you have a small item.

Have a great evening,

Miss Cauley
