Wk beg 25.06.18

Good evening, I hope you have all had a great weekend.  News for this week:

There will be no formal check ins for the children this week.  We will have read and munch time on Monday morning.

Mini Talent show

On Monday p2 will have their own mini talent show where the children can perform in front of their own year group.  This is just for fun and to give the children who were maybe too shy to perform in front of the school,  an opportunity to showcase a talent.  They can bring an outfit if needed.  This was discussed with the children on Thursday last week.  I can’t wait to see their performances.  They don’t have to perform if they don’t want to.

Work

Please send in a plastic bag for the children’s school work.  They will bring their work home on Monday.

Last day

On Wednesday we finish school at 1pm.  Children who have requested a school lunch that day will receive their lunch before they go home.  Children can bring in a toy to play with on Wednesday.  No electronics please.

New class

All of the children received a letter to tell them their new teacher on Thursday.  They had a chance to meet and get to know their teacher on Friday afternoon.

Lastly I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a great year.  It has been a pleasure to get to know and teach your children this year.  Thank you all for your support and I hope you all have a wonderful summer.

Learning Journeys

Good morning,

All of the learning journeys have been emailed out to you. Please let me know if you did not receive yours with an alternative email address to use.

Unfortunately, and I did not realise this until today, any videos I have sent via the learning journey cannot be played because the journeys are sent as a PDF file. I am very sorry about this because the class did so well when presenting their fact files this week. Maybe they’ll just have to present them to you at home! If I can recover any video files from the evidence app I will try my best to send them out to you, although please be aware that this may not be possible.

I was so proud of the children and their wonderful assembly on Wednesday. They did a fantastic job with their lines, singing and dancing! I am sure that you are very proud of them too.

Starting today, I will be sending the children’s work home.

Falcons are non uniform tomorrow, Friday 22nd June.

Hope this weather keeps up and you enjoy the rest of your week.

P2c – learning journey and bits and pieces

Hello everyone!

Just a short note to say that your child’s learning journey has now been sent to the provided email address. Please let me know if you do not receive it and I can send it to an alternative address.

The children performed fabulously today at their P2 assembly and should be very proud.

We have been listening to factfiles in class and they are absolutely fantastic. To see the children speak so openly about their love of animals and watch and listen to one another as they ask and answer questions is fantastic. They should be delighted with their efforts – I know I am extremely impressed!

Falcons – your own clothes day is on 22nd June.

And finally – thank you so much for your continued support of my upcoming summer in Africa. All children in Primary 2 have worked extremely hard to create games, run cafes, and hand out prizes. They displayed amazing team work, sportsmanship and business acumen during our sustainable Africa Day and I cannot thank them enough. Primary 2C – I have spoken to the schools I will be working with, and guess what? Your games are coming to Uganda! Perhaps we should trademark your ideas. 🙂

Have a great rest of your week and please see next week’s blog post for final class news.

Week Beginning 19th June

Good morning.

Reading books will be the only homework this week. Books must be returned on Friday. Homework diaries have been sent home in case you need to contact me.

Our Primary 2 assembly is on Wednesday 20th June this week.  It starts at 11am.  A letter went out on Friday to say that pupils should wear summer clothes for the assembly on Wednesday.  This can be shorts and t- shirts/ summer dresses etc.  These clothes should be brought into school on Wednesday morning in a plastic bag marked with your child’s name.  The children will change into these clothes before the assembly and change back into their uniforms after the assembly has taken place.  We can’t wait to perform for you all.

As of this week and over the last couple of days next week children’s work will begin it’s journey home to you. Could you please give your child a plastic bag for their folders etc.

This Friday, the 22nd, the Falcons can wear non uniform as they are currently the house with the most points.

Remember, if your child will be missing any school days this term for holidays etc., please send in a note to myself or the school office.

The countdown to summer has begun! Have a great week!

Week Beginning 11th June (late!)

Good evening and apologies for the late update!

You will have seen from homework that our spelling rule this week is ‘or’ as in ‘horse’ or ‘cord’. This will be the last week of spelling homework.

Reading books have been given out. Next week will be the final week of reading book homework. Many of the children have moved up a level, so make sure to give them lots of time with their new books.

There will be no more maths homework this term. Please keep practicing number bonds with your child at home and use links previously posted for games and videos. I can repost them in a separate post for those who wish it 🙂

The end of term summer assembly will be on Wednesday 20th June and tickets were given out last week. The children will be perfoming some songs for you and will be telling you some of the things we have been learning this year. They were given their words home on Monday which they should learn as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support with this.

Thank you also for your generous donations towards our Sustainable Africa Day. The children were super and it looks like we raised lots of money for Miss Cauley’s amazing journey this summer.

Thank you as always for your continued support.
