Leo’s Adventures : Monday 23rd March

Hi Everybody,

Another busy day for me. The morning was pretty quiet as Mrs Simpson and Ewan and Kirsty were busy on Microsoft Teams. It appears that everyone is working from home on computers. It’s all a bit odd, and I heard Mrs S saying things were taking a bit longer than planned, but nobody was to worry about it.

After lunch I watched Kirsty make some fairy cakes. We enjoyed them later on, once everyone had finished working for the day.  They were yummy 😋

Then I helped Mrs Simpson to clean her utility room. More sorting! It was pretty tiring work.

I hope you all had a good day.

Night night.

Leo’s Adventures: Sunday 22nd March

Hi Everybody 🐾🐾

I hope that you all had as much fun in the sunshine as I did.

This morning I helped Ewan and Kirsty to make breakfast for their mum, Mrs Simpson. She was very lucky to get her favourite, avocado 🥑 on toast, croissants 🥐, orange juice and tea………..yum yum!

Then I helped Mrs Simpson to measure safe distances on her patio so that she could have a bit of time with her mum. Her mum and dad live right at the end of her house in a little flat.

Afterthat I played in the garden with Ewan and Kirsty, helped Mrs S to clean the wedge ready for writing on next week, watched her hang out yet more washing (I counted the pegs in pairs, right up to 48) and then we tidied up her shed. Lots of sorting 😀

We had a tasty dinner, and now I’m going to snuggle down to sleep on her giant beanbag.  Kirsty has promised to read me Rumble in the Jungle, I love that book.

Maybe you could start to write a little diary of the things you get up to, and we could look at it together when we’re back at school.

I hope you’ve all had a great day too. Sleep well my friends.

Leo’s Adventures

Hi Everybody,

I have had a lovely day playing in Mrs Simpson’s garden. I played hide and seek in the daffodils with her chickens.

Then I chased Ewan’s drone. It landed on a neighbours house roof……..oops! Luckily Mr Simpson was able to reach it with his very tall ladders.

We had homemade lasagne for tea, it was delicious!

Now I’m snuggled up on the sofa, waiting to watch Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away, before bed.

Sleep well everybody.

See you all soon!

P2F and P2G had a brilliant day today. We had an early visit from the  Easter bunny who hid treats around our classroom for us. We loved having an Easter hunt! We also had fun outside playing games in the sunshine.

The time we have spent together since starting Primary 2 has been fantastic. We have loved getting to know all of the children, they are truly a lovely bunch.  We will hopefully all be together again soon to make many more memories. In the mean time, we will communicate through glow and I will be online from 9am every weekday. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for all of your continued support so far. Please keep in touch and we will hopefully see you soon!

Many thanks ,

Miss Finnigan and Miss Grant

Old packaging needed

As part of our Rainforest topic, we are learning about deforestation and the reasons as to why humans are cutting trees down. We are doing a science experiment on Wednesday and need old food packaging such as chocolate bars, cereal and any other packets. No glass or tins please.

Thanks for your help!

World Book Day – Thursday 4th March 2020

Good Afternoon

On Thursday it is world Book day and children have asked to bring in their favourite book to share with their read and munch partner. The day will be a non-uniform day and children can also wear pyjamas if they wish. There is a £1 donation for this. Some children have asked to wear slippers. We have agreed to this as long as they wear them in the classroom only. They will be asked to change into outdoor shoes for breaks and hometime. We also ask that children are able to read a book to an adult at some point this week as we will ask them about this in class.

We will be doing lots of fun literacy activities in class. Keep an eye out on the blog to see what we are up to!

Thanks.

Miss Finnigan and Miss Grant

STEM Day 14th February 2020

Today we had our STEM day and what a fantastic day we had.  First we had a great presentation from our terrific STEM ambassador about growing different seeds. We were told that we were going to decorate our own pot to grow some seeds, however we could only decorate our pot with biodegradable materials. We went on a nature walk and gathered different leafs and flowers to decorate our pots. Next, we planted cress seeds. We are excited to watch them grow!

Then we planted a class pot of strawberry seeds after learning all about the different needs of a plant.

We then read a book called The World Came to my Place Today, which told us all about where different materials come from. We noticed that a lot of the materials came from the rainforest, which is our current topic! We were glad to have learned a bit more about it.

Finally, we took part in our cluster STEM mascot competition. We each created a STEM mascot that told us why STEM was important.

We had such a good day and learned lots! Thanks to our STEM ambassador who was a great help to us throughout the day.

Primary 2 homework w.b. 13/01/20

Hello everyone, We hope you all had a restful weekend.

Please see homework and weekly notes below.

Primary 2 notes:

  • This term we have a new math homework grid. Please check inside your child’s maths homework jotter for all new activities. A reminder that only 1 activity is to be completed per week and please support or challenge your child as you see fit.
  • Scottish poems – our Scottish assembly is coming up soon and we ask that you please practise your child’s poem with them as a part of their homework. Your child will be given the opportunity to nominate themselves for a performance of the poem at assembly, but your child does not have to do this.
  • Shoe box donations – thank you so much for all of your kind donations of shoe boxes thus far. We are still requiring quite a few more per class and ask that you continue to bring these in if you can. If possible, can you please ensure that the shoe boxes you hand in have a completely removable lid. This is to allow us to secure these to the bottom of the box and allow a sturdy piece of cardboard for us to put the wheel axis through.
