Design Competition- BAE Systems

BAE Systems are running an exciting design competition open to everyone at Bishopton Primary School to create a sign around the theme of safe driving and sticking to the speed limit when driving through the village.

The winning designs will be chosen by a panel of judges and turned into road signs that will displayed around Dargavel Village. The pupils who created the winning designs will also get a small prize and a framed version of their design.

All entries must be handed in by Tuesday 26th September (please ensure child’s full name and class is written on the back).

We are sure you will have lots of excellent ideas and can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Engineer Visits

During technologies time this week, P2C and P2R were lucky enough to have two very special visitors. Craig and Jennifer came to tell us all about their jobs as engineers. They explained what they do in their job and the different skills they need to use to do it well.

We are learning all about the world of engineering so we can become members of the Institution of Primary Engineers!

Thank you very much to Craig and Jennifer for coming along to visit us!

P7S Build-a-Business – Order Form

P7S Superhero Smoothie Recipe Book

In P6, we were given a task to design a superhero themed smoothie. The colours in the smoothie had to match up with the superhero we had picked. As a class we voted for our top 3 favourite recipes and made them up for taste-testing. They were delicious!

We have now turned our amazing recipes into a Superhero Smoothie Recipe Book. This is an electronic book (not printed) and are for sale for £1.50 for a limited time. They contain loads of different fruit, juice and yogurt recipes and are available by completing the contact form on this post.

If you would like to order our amazing smoothie e-book, please fill out the contact form to advise our management team. Please send the money to P7S in a labelled envelope (exact money only please!). It will all be added up by our finances team during our Build a Business time on a Friday and the recipe book will be emailed out to you as soon as we can.

Thank you for supporting the P7S Build-a-Business topic!

NEW! Stage Blogs and Site Changes!

You may have noticed some changes on our school blogs. To allow us to keep you updated with all the wonderful work happening at Bishopton Primary we have had to set up each stage with their own blog. These look just the same as before and you should be able to navigate between the main school site, and the class blogs, easily.

For example, if your child is in P5S you can click on the link down the left hand side of the main page to access the posts specific to them, or go via the Class Blogs menu at the top of the page. Both links will take you to the same place. This is where posts meant only for P5S will be located.

To view posts meant for everyone (eg. upcoming events, menu changes, school-wide news) you can select Whole School News from the list on the left hand side or from the News menu at the top of the page. These posts are also located in a section on the right hand side of all of the class blogs.

We highly recommend subscribing to your class updates (using the Subscribe to Primary… link). This will send an email every evening with all updates specific to the class and all Whole School News posts.

We hope you enjoy using the blogs and seeing what is happening in the school.

P2B – Welcome!

Good morning,

It has taken me a week or so to get my account here set up so apologies for the late blog post!

I would just like to welcome everyone in P2B to the classroom; we’ve had a great start to the term and I know that it will just get better and better. During our first week we were easing the class back into school routine with soft starts, getting to know you lessons and covering classroom rules.

Our P.E days will be Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure that your child brings an appropriate gym kit with change of shoes. Pupils can wear their red polo top should they wish and black shorts. Gym kits can be left at school.

Spelling homework was handed out on Monday and is due tomorrow (Friday). Spelling homework consists of 4 common words and 4 words with the spelling sound for the week.  Children should be familiar with the common words and this term we are focusing on them being able to spell these as well as being able to recognise and read them.

Reading homework and maths homework will be handed out in due course. Homework letters will also be handed out to children today.

Our first big topic of this term is the rainforest. I am very excited to begin this brilliant topic with the class and I was impressed by their enthusiasm and curiosity for the subject.

P2C: Week beginning 21/08/17

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. Please find below updates on homework and class news.

Spelling homework was given out today. The focus sound of the week is ‘sh’ and children have been coming up with a variety of words featuring the sound.  Homework instructions are stuck into the front of the spelling jotter.  Spelling consists of 4 common words and 4 words with the spelling sound for the week.  Children should be familiar with the common words and this term we are focusing on them being able to spell these as well as being able to recognise and read them.

Reading homework and maths homework will begin in due course.

We have had a fantastic start to Primary 2, with children enjoying opportunities to take part in art, language, maths and technology activities.

Beginning next week (wb 28/08/17) the children will have the opportunity to share news at a check in time.  Your child will be allocated a day to share their news with the class.  On this day your child can bring in something small to show to the class (with your permission) if they wish.  Pupils can choose just to talk about their news.  A small note will be in the book bag this week to tell you your child’s day.

This term we will be learning about The Rainforest.  Children were given the opportunity to discuss what they would like to learn about their new topic and I was very impressed by the number of different ideas and questions they put forward.  This is a fantastic topic and we hope to book a trip to go along with this topic as soon as we can.

Homework information letters will be in the bookbags this Thursday detailing more information.

Have a lovely week.

P2R wk beg 21/08/17

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Homework and news as follows.

Spelling homework starts on Monday 21st August.  This weeks sound is sh.  Homework instructions are stuck into the front of the spelling jotter.  Spelling consists of 4 common words and 4 words with the spelling sound for the week.  The common words are words the children should be familiar with and we are now working on the children being able to spell these as well as being able to recognise and read them.

Reading homework and maths homework will begin in due course.

We had a fabulous first week in school and it was great to start to get to know all of the children in the class.  Each week the children will have the opportunity to share news at a check in time.  Your child will be given a day that they will be able to share their news.  On this day your child is allowed to bring in something small to show to the class if they wish (and you allow).  Pupils can choose just to talk about their news.  A small note will be in the book bag this week to tell you your child’s day.  This was discussed with the children on Fiday so they may remember their day already.

We also introduced our new topic to the class this week.  The Rainforest.  The children were given the opportunity to discuss what they would like to learn about the Rainforest this term.  This is a fantastic topic and we hope to book a trip to go along with this topic as soon as we can.

Homework information letters will be in the bookbags this Thursday detailing more information.

I hope you have a great week.

First few days in Primary 2C

Good afternoon,

I hope you are all enjoying Primary 2 so far! I have been very impressed with your attitude, enthusiasm and behaviour and am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead.

Our gym days this session are Wednesday and Thursday. It would be helpful if pupils could wear a polo shirt on these days to make getting changed easier for the children.   Their gym bag can be brought in any day this week and kept in class.  This should have a change of shoes and shorts inside.

This week we have showcased our listening and talking skills. We have also played maths games and enjoyed playing disco tig in
P.E.

See you all tomorrow.
