I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Homework and news as follows:
Homework
Spelling – This week our sound is magic e with a_e. as in game, snake, cake, plate. The children will be learning about magic e and using the letter name a in these words rather than the short vowel sound ah. These are two of the clips we will be watching to help explain this.

There will also be 4 common words.
Reading – Big cat books will be issued this week. These books can be fiction or non fiction books.
Wordwalls will be heard this week on Thursday.
Maths – This week our maths will be looking at subtraction sums.
Poetry – Last week we gave out some poem options to learn. The children will be heard on Monday 22nd January in class reciting their choice of poem. They can choose a different poem if they wish as long as it is Scots. Here is a website to choose alternative poems if you wish.

News
Last week we started our new Katie Morag topic. This week we will working together to create our wall display. If anyone has any Katie Morag books at home, it would great if the children could bring them in to share with the class. We will be sending home our Julia Donaldson books this week. Thank you to all who let their children send these in for our Stickman topic.
In class we have been talking about targets and things we would like to achieve. This week your child will come home with a target booklet and they will show you their short term targets for Maths, Language and Health and Wellbeing. This will be discussed and created with your child in class. Feel free to add a home target in the parent/guardian box at the bottom of the page. These targets will be looked at every couple of weeks to check how they are getting on. The target booklets will be kept in their bookbags.
Thanks as always for your support.
