ICT

In ICT the S1 to S3 pupils undertake a broad general education and the pupils learn to use a wide range of hardware and software. Pupils learn many transferable skills which are beneficial for both life and work. These include

  • Keyboarding skills
  • Word processing
  • Database
  • Spreadsheets
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Graphics
  • Email
  • Internet
  • Hardware

The S1 / S2 course focuses more on how these skills can be applied in everyday settings. While in S3, with senior phase and qualifications approaching, the focus shifts to how they can be applied in the workplace.computer_lab

S4 pupils undertake courses at National 2 and National 3 level, with the units expanding on the skills learned from S1 to S3. S4 also introduces some new topics and software such as Desktop publishing where the pupils learn to make printed publications including newsletters and magazines. Pupils are also given the opportunity to individualise their learning by selecting topics for research.
