Crafts
- Lots of our calm base users get a lot of enjoyment out of drawing tutorials. This website has a huge selection of characters that lots of our ASD pupils appreciate (Disney, Mario, Star Wars, Pokémon).
- Making your own playdoh. A great recipe can be found here.
- Easy paper crafts found here.
These are quite tricky and require a few items which might not be in the house (stapler, cello tape) but if you have these they can be really impressive when you finish them.
Reading / Audio Books/ Adaptations
- Many of the calm base users find it relaxing to listen to stories and I have found David Waliams to be great. Every day at 11am, you can listen one of David Walliams’ World’s Worst Children Stories, enjoy 20ish minutes of pure fun!
- You can also catch up on previous recordings at Elevenses Catch-up.
- Several of David Walliams adaptations are also on BBC iPlayer
- The Boy in the Dress
- Mr Stink
Documentaries
- Nature documentaries have a calming effect on lots of our pupils. Particular favourites are:
- Dynasties
- Seven Worlds One Planet
