At Glencoats, we are working to becoming a Rights Respecting School. A Rights Respecting School not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers/adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils. Children’s rights are central to all aspects of UNICEF’s work, including education, and we use the UNCRC as a framework for our activities. The Award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond.
All classes have their own charter and we have created our own school charter. The Glencoats Primary Charter has an expectation that all pupils and adults should:
➢ Respect all cultures.
➢ Treat everyone with kindness.
➢ Respect boundaries and keep hands and feet to yourself.
➢ Take care of all property.
➢ Good timekeeping.
➢ Good listening skills.
➢ Kind words, body language and gestures.

In June 2019 we achieved our Bronze Award.
