I am delighted to announce that after a successful interview process, Mrs. McLeod has been appointed as the permanent Depute Head Teacher of Cochrane Castle Primary School.
Mrs. McLeod has been in the role in an acting capacity since Mrs. Patterson retired therefore there will be no disruption to the service provided to your children.
I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Mrs. McLeod on a job very well done.
Since returning from the Spring holiday we have re-established our school assemblies and our focus has been on the school values. Due to current restrictions our assemblies are taking place outside and with half the school at a time.
We feel that the disjointed year we have experienced has resulted in a loss of the community feel in the school and it is important to us that we have school celebrations and opportunities to come together as often as possible. Our school community is built on our school values and we want to ensure that those permeate through everything that the Cochrane Castle Community does and that the children use those values to guide their thinking and their behaviour. For that to happen our values need to resonate in our children’s lives both at school and at home.
We are working as a staff to establish a consistent and purposeful way of celebrating and teaching our school values. As a result of that work you and your children will be sent a questionnaire on the school values that I would like you to complete. The results of the questionnaire will help guide our next steps in relation to our school values.
If you have any questions regarding our values, then please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.
Tomorrow is the final day of the term and as a result we will have a non-uniform day for all the children.
We also finish earlier than normal tomorrow but our staggered finish times will remain in place. Every class will finish half an hour earlier than normal. Each year group will finish at the following times:
This has been another unusual term in what has been a very challenging last year for everyone. I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and for all your efforts while supporting the teaching and learning of your children at home.
I hope you and your families have a lovely Spring Holiday and that everyone returns to school safely on Monday 19th April. Staggered start times on return to school will continue.
here will be a resource pick up today between 1pm and 3pm.
This is for those of you who didn’t manage last Friday.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has been able to come to the school and pick up their child’s resource pack.
We only have 17 packs remaining to be collected.
We will have an open collection of these packs from 1.30pm – 3pm today. Our collection point will be at the fire doors that are normally used as an entrance to the building on a Polling Day.
If you are unable to collect them today then please contact the school and we will arrange an alternative pick up for you.
