Fairtrade Art Competition

Every class took part in this year’s competition which was to draw and colour a picture which included the Fairtrade logo. Every class had one winner and the overall winners were Dylan P4a, Jennifer P6a and Sofia P5b. The prizes were Fairtrade chocolate and key rings. The judges were the P4 Fairtrade committee. All the entries were very good and the best are now on display in school.

P4 Fairtrade Chocolate Sale

Thank you to everyone who supported this sale. Over 400 bars of Divine Milk Chocolate were sold in school. The profits after paying the suppliers will be sent to the Fairtrade Foundation to help promote Fairtrade. The P4 classes had a good time organising the sale.

Fairtrade Art Competition 2018

This year’s school competition is to draw a picture which includes the Fairtrade logo, for example as the eye of an animal or in the fabric of a dress. All pupils will have time in class to make an entry. There is a prize for each class. The closing date is 28 February . We are looking forward to seeing lots of imaginative ideas.

One World Week

The theme for this year’s One World Week (22-29 October) was “Good Neighbours, My World Depends On Us”. P4 to P7 classes have been doing activities around this theme in RME and some of their work is now displayed on the Fairtrade notice board.

Fairtrade Competition 2017

The competition to design a wrapper for a new Fairtrade snack bar was very popular. The standard of entries was very high, with pupils producing great eye-catching designs. The judging was done by the Fairtrade Committee. There was a winner in each class who each won a Fairtrade bar of chocolate. The overall winners were Ana and Jennifer in P5.

Some of the other winning entries:

P4a Fairtrade Assembly

On Monday, it was our class assembly which was about Fairtrade. Some of us were readers, some demonstrated a word game. Some pupils showed Fairtrade goods bought locally and others performed an acrostic poem. At the end, everyone sang a Fairtrade song. We enjoyed performing our assembly to the whole school.

FairtradeFortnight 2017

Our competition entries are due in today, judging will take place soon!  Our Fairtrade Committee has been planning a Fairtrade Sale. We are having a Fairtrade chocolate sale on Friday when P4 will be selling milk chocolate bars for £1 each.

Everyone is invited to the Bridge of Weir and Houston Fairtrade Villages coffee morning in Houston Church Halls on Saturday 11 March, 10 till 12 noon.

We have been reading Room on the Broom  by Julia Donaldson for the past few weeks and have really enjoyed the story. On Thursday we made our very own witch’s hat using melted chocolate (Fairtrade of course, since Fairtrade Fortnight begins today) and a waffle cone, with sprinkles and marshmallows for decoration.

We know how important is is to wash our hands before touching food and tried very hard not to make too much mess.

On Monday, we wrote a recipe for our witch’s hat in case anyone else wants to make one too.

Fairtrade Competition

We are marking this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight by having a whole school competition. Everyone has to think of the name of a new Fairtrade chocolate or snack bar, choose the shape of it and then design an eye-catching wrapper for it. There will be a Fairtrade prize for each class. Class teachers have all the details about this competition. We are looking forward to getting lots of creative and imaginative entries.
