Christmas is coming
We started our Advent calendar yesterday. Every day we will play games in our interactive advent calendar. We listened to Christmas stories on north pole.com.
For our toys topic, we made balancing robots.

P6P – Finished Phone Cases!
P6P have finished their felt phone cases at long last! It has been a long process but I’m sure you’ll agree it has been worth the effort.
The design and creating process was as follows:
- evaluating existing products
- identify areas for improvement
- create individual design criteria
- take accurate measurements of their phone
- create annotated designs
- create a paper template
- use the paper template to cut felt
- use running and/or back stitch to decorate the felt
- use pom-poms/felt shapes/pen/sequins/beads/buttons to decorate the felt
- make a closing latch with fixings (like Velcro) to close the case
- use the overlocker to sew the sides of the case together
After completing any last minute touches today, the class evaluated their finished product. They thought about WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If).
Some of the project has been quite tricky, however, I have been very impressed with how hard you have worked and the effort put in.
Here are some photos of P6P modelling their funky felt phone cases.
P3/2
Tomorrow is the school house art day. Pupils can wear their house colours but please don’t wear expensive clothing as we will be using lots of art materials!!
Primary 3/2 have made snowman mosaic coasters for the Christmas fayre on Saturday. They will be priced at £1. If you can’t make the fayre and would still like to buy your child’s coaster I can put it aside for you for the same price of £1.
Thanks as always for all of your support.

P5S – Christmas Fair
The children have been working very hard on their craft for the Christmas Fair which is being held in the school on Saturday (1-3pm). They have turned out very well and the children are very proud of them. Please come along and support this great event and help raise some money for our school. The children have decided to sell their craft for £1.50.
P4M – Puppet Pals and Internet Safety
P5S – Book Detectives Homework due 8.12.16
As discussed in class, you will read a set amount of pages per week. Please see below for the pages to be read by each group this week.
Green: Carnival King – Please complete the book.
Yellow: Hostage – Please complete the book.
Red: Over the Rainbow – Please complete the book.
Blue: Kid Wonder and the Sticky Skyscraper – Please complete the book.
Once you have completed the reading this week you should then complete two segments using the information from the chapters read: Question Master and Illustrator. A short section from the book should also be chosen to read aloud to your group members.
We have gone over the types of questions you should be coming up with this week: literal and evaluative. Please remember that answers for literal questions are found in the text. Evaluative questions are your thoughts and opinions on what you have read, eg. Why do you think Sonia’s dad did not want to be entered into the cake competition? You should use what you have read to justify your answer, eg. use evidence from the text to make judgements on what you have read.
Please come up with 5 questions (3 of one style and 2 of the other) which can be shared with your group members during our next session. You must also have detailed answers for each of your questions. Please remember your answers should be written in full sentences.
You should also completed a detailed illustration of an interesting part of the story so far. A short, written explanation should also be included. This task should be completed in your Book Detectives jotter. This task should be completed and returned to school for Thursday 8th December.
Please remember that you will be unable to participate in our class lesson if you do not complete this task.

Keep playing and trying your best to help your class and our school to do our very best!
P1H -the rest of this week!
Enjoy the holiday tomorrow!
Please could children bring their library books to school on Thursday for Read and Munch and so that I can return them to the library?
Friday is House Art Day. This is a very exciting day where children work in their houses for the full day to create a wall display. Children should come to school wearing something in their house colour -nothing too new or expensive as it might get messy!!!! They will also make a craft to take home.
Saturday is the school Christmas Fair. All of the children in the class have made decorations which will be on sale on the day priced at £1 each. They are clearly labelled with your child’s name to avoid confusion! I hope you can support us in this great fundraiser.
See you all on Thursday!

P5H Painting Shirts
Good evening everyone. As you (and your parents by now!) know we were painting today in preparation for the Christmas Fair on Saturday. Quite a few of you managed to get quite a lot of paint on yourselves. To try and prevent this the next time we do arts and crafts could you ask someone at home if you can bring in an old shirt or tee-shirt that is big enough to cover your uniform. Please remember to label it with your name so we know which one is yours.
It would also be very helpful if you could bring in any old newspapers from home to cover the desks.
Thank you, see you tomorrow.
Mrs Hughes.
P5 – Brazil – Travel Guide
We are reaching the final weeks of our Brazil topic and to date you have learned an incredible amount of information. You are going to use some of this knowledge for our next task.
For today’s task you are going to create a travel guide for Brazil. Brazil is visited by millions of tourists every year. It has many attractions and hosts many events that tourists find appealing.
Below are a number of links which you should access to research the information you will include in your travel guide. Notes should be taken in your topic jotter. You should have clear heading to separate your information. Please remember you will already have some of the relevant information in your jotters from previous tasks. DO NOT give yourself extra work by rewriting the same information in your jotter.
Please read your task sheet carefully so you are aware of the areas to be included in your guide.

Art Day
Could you please bring empty milk cartons for house art day.

Reading homework for P1M
As the children don’t have any reading books this week we decided to send them home each night with their own story written and illustrated by themselves. (Basically it’s a sentence using some of the common words from their word wall). Please encourage them to attempt to read their sentence (story) using fingers under the words approach.
Please return the booklet tomorrow so we can write another story.
