Sports Day 2018

Sports Day 2018 finished with our Sports Assembly on Monday Morning. We looked at the qualities of elite athletes and how we could become the next one!

Congratulations to the HAWKS who won the Sports Day Trophy in what was a very tight event.

The Sport Committee would also like to thank all of our volunteers and helpers who made the day a great success!

RENERS Cup

A massive well done to Bishopton Blue and Bishopton Red who competed in the RENERS cup at Renfrew Juniors today. Both played some lovely football with Bishopton Blue reaching the Semi Finals. The football and sportsmanship on show by all schools was fantastic. Well done to everyone involved and a special thanks to those who came down to cheer the team on!

Big Pedal = Big Success

That’s the Big Pedal over for another year.  Thanks to everyone – mums, dads, grandparents, breakfast and after school club staff –  who made the effort to bring bikes and scooters. I know the children enjoyed it and we finished 6th out of over 500 schools in the UK.

Hopefully  with the nice weather we can all continue at home to get lots of exercise and have fun on our bikes and scooters.

Happy cycling and scooting.

Football Team update

The football team finished their league campaign with a scoring draw against St John Bosco. It was a close game and the team were disappointed as the final whistle blew but they should all be very proud with their excellent league form, only losing once all year.

Well done to everyone who has represented the team this year and thank you to the supporters who have cheered us on.

We have the RENERS cup in the next few weeks as we look to finish the year on a high.

Big Pedal

Coming soon to Bishopton Primary – The Big Pedal is organised by the cycling charity Sustrans.  Every year they encourage children in schools all over the UK to cycle or scoot to school.  Parents and teachers are encouraged to join in too.  Every journey made is recorded over a 10 day period.  The school with the most journeys is the winner.  Prizes are awarded every day.

In Bishopton Primary, there is a special certificate for each daily class winner and an extra cycle/scooting time awarded to the over all winning class.

We ask that children cycle or scoot to school (but not in the playground before school or on the way home from school).

At some time every day, teachers will take their class to the playground to cycle or scoot and improve fitness , as well as having fun.

We would ask that all children wear a helmet on their bikes and , if they have one, on their scooters. Please make sure all helmets fit properly and are undamaged.

Please help us protect your child’s safety by checking over their bike or scooter before they bring it to school.

If your child has a lock for their bike or scooter they are welcome to use it, as bikes and scooters will be stored in the playground.  Children are responsible for looking after lock keys.

Let’s hope for good weather. Please join in if you have a bike (or scooter!) If you would like to find out more or just keep up with our progress, you can check out the Sustrans Big Pedal website.

School Football Team Update

The football team played their rescheduled fixture against Bargarran Primary after the recent snow.

After a joint training session a few weeks ago, both teams played out an entertaining draw. It was great to see such positive attitudes during both the training session and the game from both sides.  This was great to see especially with our upcoming transition events as we prepare for Secondary school.

Junior Soccer Sevens

Bishopton Blue and Bishopton Red attended the Junior Soccer Sevens Tournament at Ferguslie Sport Centre. We managed to have 18 boys and girls play in some exciting matches. It was a brilliant event with the pupils playing against a variety of teams. The teams were a mix of some Primary 4, 5 and 6’s which is great for the school football team for the years to come. It was also great to see supporters down cheering the teams on.

Over the last three weeks we have had over 40 pupils represent the school at Badminton, the Soccer Sevens and the Junior Soccer Sevens.
Go Team Bishopton!!!!

Here are the clubs running for Term 3.
Bishopton Primary is now moving to an online booking system for all Active School Clubs.
On this page you will be directed to all available clubs (with the exception of P4-7 Football). Using this online system will cut down on the number of forms you will have to complete and return to the school.

If you have any problems please contact Olivia Bell (Active Schools and Community Club Officer) on 07810055000 or contact Mr McAvoy in the school.

School Football Team Update

Well done to the football team who once again done the school proud. They put in a strong performance against a resilient Inchinnan side. The game was played in tough conditions and Inchinnan were not helped by an injury at a key moment in the game. We hope their player is okay and wish them all the best for the rest of the campaign.

Next up is a very tough game against Barsail Primary.
