Well done to all classes who have now qualified for the Sumdog Contest! Today is your last chance to play games to help your class climb the leader board. The contest closes at 8pm tonight so try your best!
What amazing and varied thoughts from P3AM for today’s Think, Notice, Wonder image. I love the way everyone brings their own experiences and questions to each photo.
The windows on the blue house are made up of 6 small rectangles on the top and 6 small rectangles on the bottom. That is 12 panes altogether. (Jessica T) You can just see the reflection of the tree in the 1st window at the top of the blue house on the left hand side We think this is the tree from the yellow house. Craig, Robb & Emma O Where does the wee road in between the houses go to? What size would the loft be if there are windows right at the top of the house? Harry T What county might these houses be found in? Henry The door is a vertical rectangle but the window above it is a horizontal rectangle. Innes
Thank you to those of you who submitted answers to yesterday’s puzzle. All answers will be revealed at the end of the week to allow everyone a chance to play along.
Try out today’s House bird puzzle. Can you work out the value of each House bird? Reply to this post or on Twitter. Give it a go!
Although yesterday was Day 5 of the Sumdog Contest, it was our first day back at school. Please see below for the current results. Remember if you don’t see your class it is because you need at least 5 pupils from your class to play in order to qualify.
As part of Maths Week Scotland we will be posing a Bishopton House themed Daily Puzzle. The pupils will be given a chance in school to solve the problem but we would like for the adults at home to give it a go. Use your knowledge of number, the four operations and problem solving strategies (working backwards, guess/check/improve, draw a picture, look for a pattern). Please reply to the blog post or reply to the Tweet to give your answer.
The Maths Week Scotland contest for Sumdog starts at 8am on Friday 24th September and ends at 8pm on Thursday 30th September. All P1-7 pupils have been entered and should have their login details.
Play as many games as you can to answer up to 1000 questions. This will help your class to climb the leader board. At least 5 pupils in a class must take part. The class’s score is the average of the scores from all pupils that take part.
Our school code is bishps or please use the link below to login:
If you have not already done so please complete and return the consent form. We are going to the Co-op next week as part of Maths Week so we need consent before pupils leave the school.
Next week is Maths Week Scotland 2021 from Monday 27th September to Sunday 3rd October. We have many fun activities planned in school to celebrate maths and numeracy related to this year’s theme of ‘Our World’.
All pupils are entered into the Sumdog Maths Week Contest. This starts on Friday 24th at 8am and ends on Thursday 30th at 8pm.
We have arranged a visit to the Co-op. We would appreciate if you could please provide your child with £1 to spend at the local Co-op.
Please have a look at the activities suggested in the booklet below for ideas of how you can develop maths and numeracy at home. If you do any of these activities, please post photos of them to your child’s Teams or tweet them using the handles at the top of this post.
Your child will have their school photograph order form in their school bag tomorrow. There is no obligation to purchase any photos. Please complete any orders online by following the instructions provided.
If you order before the end of September you get free delivery.
The sibling photographs will be taken tomorrow. If you have requested a sibling photograph, please have your child wearing your preference of our formal ‘shirt and tie’ uniform or our less formal ‘polo-shirt’ uniform.
All children will be photographed with no obligation to purchase.
A reminder that the individual and family photographs will be taken in school on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 15th September. You should have completed a form to let the teacher know if you want individual, family or both and if you would like your child’s jumper on or off.
Thank you if you have already completed and returned the Flu Vaccination and Data forms for your child. If you have not already done so, we are looking for the following forms:
We have now subscribed to Sumdog which means pupils have access to all 32 games. Every pupil should have their login details. Please play as many games as you can to help practise your maths and numeracy skills. Enjoy!
Your child will be bringing home a letter today from NHS Scotland about the flu vaccine which is offered in schools every year. Please can you complete the forms and return them in the envelope by Friday 27th August.
Please read the above leaflet to help support your child with their spelling. The leaflet explains the strategies and routines we use in school to teach spelling sounds and patterns. It explains the technical terms and the child friendly language we use. It also gives you an overview of what is taught each day in school. We hope you find this useful.
Please find below some useful guides to help your child with numeracy and maths at home. These booklets explain how each concept is delivered in school.
There has been a change to the menu on Monday 16th August. Instead of Cheese and Tomato quiche, it is Cheese and Onion quiche. This will be a permanent change.
We encourage all pupils to continue to play Sumdog throughout the summer to keep their maths skills sharp. We also recommend playing card, dice and board games too. Look at the numbers, shapes and maths all around you! Use your knowledge of numbers to help you with everyday problems and situations.
Towards the end of the holidays the Bishopton pupils will be moved onto their new classes .e.g. from P4 to P5. If you are moving to Dargavel Primary, in order to save pupils’ avatars, pets and coins they have worked hard to earn we have to remove you from the Bishopton Sumdog account. However, when Dargavel sets up their Sumdog account your account can be transferred over. Thank you for your patience when this happens.
