Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have been having a lovely weekend so far. Here is your homework for the coming week. Due to our upcoming Eco Week there are slight changes. Please keep reading to see our reminders (there are a lot of them this week).

Spelling: Units 2 and 31 should be completed for Friday. As always, each word should be written out three times and an uplevelled sentence should be written for each spelling rule word. Please remember to consider your VCOP in each sentence.

This week I would like you to continue focusing on using  ambitious connectives in each sentence again. Here are some examples: before, as well as, however, also, although and after. Quite a few of you did not do this last week.  Try to include one in each sentence. Remember this does not mean you forget about uplevelling your openers and vocabulary. We are trying to use all of these together to make your sentences the best they can be.

Reading:  You have a new core reader to complete at home. Please complete the book for Thursday. There will be no written homework for this as all tasks will be completed in class. As always, if there is any vocabulary you are unsure of, please take a note of it and we will discuss it in class on Thursday.

Please remember to read aloud to someone at home. Once again, your feedback form should be completed, if possible, by the person who heard you read and returned to school for Thursday. A huge thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and aunts who took the time to complete this last week. I enjoyed reading your comments!

Personal Reading Challenge: We now have 2 weeks of reading left. A number of you have reached, or are close to reaching, the target number of books set at the beginning of this term. Well done! There is still time for the rest of you to make that last push in the hope of reaching your target. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class. Remember this is your record of the number of books you have read so far this term.

Maths: There is no maths homework this week due to having Eco activities to complete. If you wish, additional practice of your multiplication tables can be done using the links below.

Eco Week:  This week I would like you to choose an activity to complete for Friday.  A link for the activities will be posted on Monday. The activity you choose is up to you! On Friday you will be asked to present this aspect of your homework to the class and explain why you chose it.

Red Nose Day: A number of activities have been arranged for this week to raise money for Red Nose Day. On Monday there will be a chance to “Guess the Number of Sweets” at 10p a go.  There will be a bake sale on Tuesday with all cakes being  10p. On Thursday Primary 5 will be taking part in a danceathon and a donation of 50p is required to participate. Finally on Friday there will be a non-uniform day where you should wear something red to school. A donation of £1.00 has been suggested for doing so.

1. As part of our Eco Week each class will have the chance to earn “eco points”. To help us raise as many points as possible I would like you to try and bring in a healthy snack for break. You could also bring in a water bottle (instead of cartons of juice) as this will help us gain even more points. One point can be gained for every snack and every water bottle brought in (each day). That is a lot of points!
2. On Monday we are having a “No Paper Day”. This includes the use of paper towels. There are hand dryers which can be used however if you would rather you may bring in a small hand towel to use instead.
3. P.E. is on Tuesday and Friday . If you have not already done so, please ensure you have a P.E. kit in school.
4. Our next library visit is on Tuesday 21st March. We require one parent helper. Please click here for further details.
5. Please ensure your Parents’ Night confirmation slip is returned as soon as possible.
6. All Pupil/Parent Response sheets should be returned to school by Friday. This will allow me to prepare for any areas your parents may wish to discuss at their appointment.
7. This week is our first Big Pedal week. You may bring your bike or scooter to school. Please remember a helmet must be worn during our daily sessions in the playground. A plastic bag should be brought to protect your bike seat from the rain.
