We had a great number of pupils representing Barsail in the annual Renfrewshire Schools Burns Competition. We came away with two 1st place medals, a 2nd place, two 3rd place medals and a trophy for best in category for the instrumental section . Everyone gave it their all and made Barsail very proud! Well done! 👏🏻💙

P4/3 Bug Hotel
We had great fun today building our Barsail Bug Hotel! Mrs Kellett’s son Kieran came in to help us. He helped lift all the heavy items to where we wanted them. We all worked together as a team to create our fantastic hotel for all the local minibeasts.
In class we had worked in groups to research bug hotels and then we all planned our own ideas and recorded them on annotated diagrams. We combined all of our ideas and used them today and afterwards we all wrote instructions on how to build a bug hotel.
Thank you for the items sent in for our project. We think it looks amazing, wehope you do too!
P4/3 Library Visit and Caterpillars
We had a lovely walk down to the Erskine library. We listened to the story ‘Pirates love underpants’ and then answered questions about the book. We split into two groups; one group designed their own pairs of pants while the other spent time looking at and choosing a book. We all selected a book and brought it back to school to read.
If you go into the library you might see our pants hanging up on the line!
We are very excited about the caterpillars we have in our classroom! Our minibeast topic has come alive!!! We see huge changes in them every day as they are growing so fast! We have already started our personal research about minibeasts and next week we will be designing and making a bug hotel!
P4/3 Eco Day
We did the daily mile with P3 .
We went orienteering to find the letters for our ‘eco’ letters which we then had unscramble to work out the word – which was ‘renewable’.
Next we decorated our plant pots in the dark!!! We were only allowed 30 minutes of electricity ALL day so we booked it for the afternoon!
We also exercised on the trim trail. In the afternoon we planted seeds in our pots and listened to eco stories. We wrote a class Eco Code and designed posters for the school to encourage everyone to recycle.
P4/3 Outdoor Maths
We worked in groups to complete our maths challenges:
We have been learning about direction points on a compass and 90 degree angles. We had the challenge of working out where monkey would end up when he travelled clockwise and anti-clockwise by either 90, 180, 270 or 360 degrees.
Another task was to go on a right angle hunt to see how many we could find within the playground – we found loads and wrote them down in the classroom when we went back in!
We have been learning about co-ordinates. We drew a grid on the playground with chalk and then took turns to shout out the reference for each other to stand on.
