Bute & Skye Fundraiser

Today was our Bute & Skye Fundraiser!!!

The charities we raised money for were: Cornerstone, Epilepsy Scotland, Young Minds & Team Mila !!!

We do not know how much money we have raised yet, but will announce it in the following week.

We had representatives from Cornerstone, Epilepsy Scotland, & Team Mila. Sadly a representative from Young Minds couldn’t make it, but they were happy to send us balloons and stickers for the Fundraiser 😀.

We are very lucky to have Mila in our school now and in a couple years her brother Luca will join us too

We would like to thank all the pupils for bringing in money and the captains for bearing with us as the children threw wet sponges at them.

P4/3 visit to David Lloyd

Primary 4/3 had an absolutely fantastic time today at the David Lloyd Centre in Renfrew.  We attended a two hour tennis coaching session.  It was great fun taking part in lots of fun games and playing against each other.

Many thanks to our coaches and everyone at David Lloyd for looking after us.

P4/3 P.E. Fun with Craig

P4/3 have thoroughly enjoyed having Craig from Park Mains working with us this year.  He has been coming along every week and  worked with us on lots of fun activities during our P.E. sessions.  We have developed our fitness, rugby, badminton, tennis and athletic skills taking part in lots of interesting and challenging games.

Today we were sad to say goodbye to Craig but we wish him lots of luck and success as he heads into his S6 exams and then moves on to university next year.

P4/3 Scientists with Dr Michelle Bellingham

Wow!  What a fun start to our day we had today! We were extremely lucky to welcome to our class Hannah’s mum, who is a scientist at Glasgow University.

We have been studying the human body and Dr Bellingham very kindly offered to come in and allow us to be scientists with her for the morning.  We we able to share with her all our fantastic knowledge and also learn lots of new and interesting facts.

She brought in microscopes for us to look through.  We got to see what the cells of our organs look like up close.  It was amazing!

We also got to look at lots of different models of our body parts.  We tried to fit them all back together.  The brain was particularly hard to put back together again!

We all had such good fun being mini scientists and many of us are now wanting to be scientists when we grow up.

We would like to thank Michelle for coming in today, it was such a fantastic opportunity for us.  We look forward to her returning to visit us again. 😊

P4/3 Pupil Focus Groups Week

Wow!  What can we say other than Wow!  It has been an extremely busy and fun filled week.  We all thoroughly enjoyed it and want to thank all the pupil groups and the teachers for all the hard work and effort put into organising the special days.

Now time to enjoy Easter.  Happy holidays everyone! 🐣

P4/3 Christmas Truffles 🎄

Primary 4/3 had great fun today making Christmas Truffles for the school Christmas Fayre.  They all worked super hard together in their group production lines creating the yummy delights.  The smell was amazing and we can guarantee they will taste amazing too!  They will be on sale at the Christmas Fayre tomorrow night 6.30-8.30pm.  We hope to see everyone come along and enjoy all the treats and delights the school has in store! 🎄🎅🏼

P4/3 trip to Kelvingrove Museum

We all had a wonderful trip to Kelvingrove today. We listened to and read lots of interesting facts.  We learned loads and also got to show off our knowledge of ancient Egypt.

It was great fun looking at all the displays and learning from Pat our guide and expert from the museum. Some of us got to dress up and we enjoyed acting out some different scenarios. We even got to hold and touch real Egyptian artefacts that were over 3,000 years old!
Here are some pictures of our fantastic trip.

P4/3 Book Week

Primary 3 had fun again with our book bags today. This time we used our story cubes. We brought in our own bears to be be the main characters in our stories. We enjoyed making up a story together with Mrs Kellett’s bear Ted. We then created our own stories starring our bears. We are looking forward to sharing these on Friday. 🐻

Primary 4 were busy today reorganising our library.  We had a meeting in our library area and discussed what we thought we should do.  We had loads of great ideas.  The first job we decided was to sort out all the books into fiction and non-fiction.  We plan to continue with our other ideas tomorrow. 📚

P4/3 BOOK WEEK SCOTLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 📚

Primary 3 thoroughly enjoyed receiving their Read, Write & Count book bags today. They were very excited to see what was inside their bags and had fun exploring them. We had great fun reading the book Bear Spotting. We used lots of expression and talked about how clever the author was using the print to help us know how to say the words. Tomorrow we are bringing in our own bears for more fun. 😃 🐻

P4/3 Visit to Erskine Food Bank

Today P4/3 went to visit the local food bank located in Erskine Baptist Church.  We got to meet Elizabeth who coordinates all of the food banks across Renfrewshire.  She showed us around the food bank,  informed us all about the organisation and work involved and answered all of our questions.  Amanda from the church looked after us all very well and treated us to drinks and snacks!  We had a fantastic time and everyone learned lots from the visit.

It was great to see where all of the tremendous donations we got went to and how they will help so many families in need.  Thank you very much to our helping mums and grandad who came along and supported our trip.  (Photos to follow)

P4/3 Harvest Food Bank Donation Appeal

WOW! We are blown away with the amount of donations we received today!

Our Harvest Assembly was fantastic! Amanda McCall from Erskine Baptist Church visited again today.  The whole school thoroughly enjoyed her story telling and fun tasting  competition with Mrs Mavers versing the pupils.  The pupils won – poor Mrs Mavers!

P4/3 speakers did very well in front of the whole school and the class were super at leading our new school Harvest song.  What a lovely end to our project and first term this year.

We would like to thank everyone so much for their kindness and support with this very worthy local charity.  We would also like to wish everyone a lovely October holiday. 😊

P4/3 Harvest Food Bank Donations Appeal

Last minute reminder for anyone who is able to bring in donations tomorrow (Thurs 12th Oct) for P4/3’s Harvest Food Bank Appeal.  We really need your help to support our local food bank in Erskine.

We are looking for packets, tins, jars and boxes of food e.g. rice, pasta, cereal, soup, biscuits, etc.  Unfortunately we cannot take any fresh produce e.g. fresh fruit, milk, bread, etc.

Primary 4/3 are all looking forward to seeing your donations flood in tomorrow and plan on displaying them at our Harvest Assembly.

We would like to yet again thank everyone for their kindness and continued support in this very worthy cause, we really appreciate it! 😊

P4/3 Harvest Food Bank Donations – Thurs 12th Oct

Primary 4/3 are super excited to be leading this year’s Harvest Food Bank Donation appeal.  This is a local community charity organisation and Barsail have been supporting them for a few years now.

Amanda from Erskine Baptist Church, where the local food bank is located, came to visit P4/3 on Monday.  She helped inform the class of the need for food banks and how we can help them.

We are looking to our whole school to get involved and help us support this very worthy cause.  Today the pupils in P4/3 went to each class and informed them of our plan.  They all did extremely well in delivering their information without any help from Mrs Kellett!

We need your help!  We are looking for tins, jars, packets and boxes of food e.g. rice, pasta, cereal, soup, biscuits, etc.  It is important that they have a best before date as far away as possible.  All items also have to be unopened and unused.  We cannot take any fresh food or things that will go out of date quickly like fresh fruit, milk, bread, meat, etc.

We are looking for any donations to be brought into school on Thursday 12th October.  We will be having a special Harvest Assembly that morning.  Amanda will be coming along and we will be able to present her with our collection of food.

We really appreciate everyone’s support with this very worthy cause and we would like to thank you all in advance for doing so. 😊

P4/3 Maths Week

We have had great fun with Maths so far this week!  We have all been working our way through the Sumdog challenge with some of us having completed it already!  Remember we want to get as many questions correct as possible so we are focusing on accuracy over speed in this competition!

Today we completed our entries into the Maths Art Cluster Competition.  Primary 3 were using pattern and squares to create fantastic number artwork.

Well done to our wonderful gardening pupils and parents who spent the Election Day developing our school garden.

The garden is looking fantastic and the local community were very impressed watching such a supportive group of parents and children working in the rain while they came to vote!

Thanks again to David Bunting who removed tonnes of soil from the the front entrance. This will be further developed next session. Watch this space.
