Digital technologies are beginning to reshape the lives of our young people and the ways in which they learn and demonstrate their learning. As teachers, it can be difficult to navigate the huge swathe of hardware and software resources that can, and do, have an impact in learning and teaching. Professional development will be at the centre of Perth & Kinross’s vision for transformational change in this area.
Perth & Kinross Council have developed this resource to support you in your practice with video tutorials and advice about how to begin to use many of the tools on iPad and in GLOW. The live blog will keep you abreast of new ideas and approaches and you’ll also begin to see the stories about how practitioners are using digital with their learners and in their developing pedagogical practice.
Support will also come from our Digital Learning Officer, Michael Conlon, who is there to provide teachers and senior leaders with advice and guidance. This resource and his twitter feed will keep you up to date with any training sessions or twilights that will be held in your cluster. He can also work directly with your school and in the classroom.
Michael Conlon is currently seconded to the centre as Digital Learning and Technology Officer. Michael is a former Depute, QIO and Principal Teacher of Computing and is passionate about how technology can help teachers broaden their skills, engage learners in new ways, and break down some barriers for students, especially for those with additional support needs.
