Cool week

This week we were making prints of lighthouses out of foam, ink and a plate. We stuck the foam on the plate and then we rolled ink on the foam then we put paper over it an gave it a rub. Next we peeled it off the paper. It is called a collagraph.

We started creating characters for our new books and we made our first paragraph with our characteristics in it.

P5s started kayaking at loch Tay with Kenmore school it was very scary and fun, next week we are capsizing. We are looking forward to it.

P5s went right angel hunting!

p1,2,3,4 were doing positions and movement

We have finished our plans for the term, we will change things as we go if we need to.

We have sent our Camera Trap competition entry away – fingers crossed!  We really loved the project and seeing what animals visit the garden.

We have been using the Daily Mile to practise for the Wee Robbie next week!

Visitors and fact finding

This Monday we started our brochures on what we have discovered in our camera trap.  The brochures will help people who visit our garden see what wildlife there is and where to spot it.

On Tuesday we created a pop dance in PE we learned some new dance moves and turned it into a dance.

Wednesday the 8th, a ranger called Polly came in and told us all about wildlife. Polly gave us clues from animals that are quite common in our area, and we had to guess which animal it was from. Polly told us that one of our ‘mice’ is actually a bank vole!

Thursday is here  we came up with another dance with Miss Edwards.

It’s Friday and we moved our camera trap to see if there are any bigger animals in our garden.

An animal filled week!

We really enjoyed the Highland Wildlife park our favourite animal was the Red Panda. Then we went to see Walker the Polar Bear and the Snow Leopards Chan and Animesh getting fed. We learned about some animals that are endangered and we also learned about how we can stop that from happening by reduce, reusing and recycling.

.

We have had mice, pigeons, blue tits, robins, great tits, dunnocks, male and female chaffinch, rabbit, and a cheeky cat in our camera trap.

We had visitors from Generation Science we learned about magnets and how magnets attract metal that contains iron. They told us a story about Manis and his grandfather and how Manis learnt about magnets. We learnt a song about the northern lights and got to experiment with the different poles on bar magnets and disc magnets.

We have been enjoying dance in PE with Miss Edwards and Miss Crawford.

The Animal Adventure

On Monday a lady called Heather came in with a camera trap and she told us how to use it. Heather explained what the camera trap does it senses heat and movement and then it takes a photo of the animal. We are going to use our camera trap for discovering what animals are visiting our garden. We found…  Mouse ,pheasant,  Great tit, pigeon, female chaffinch, dunnock and a Blue tit. We put bird seeds and peanuts out for the birds and other animals and we are going  to put out carrots to attract rabbits.

We have been learning about classification to do with the 5 kingdoms there are Animal, plant, fungi, protoctista and prokaryotes and these are the meanings.

animal: all the animals including us.  plants: all of the plants and flowers.  fungi: all the mushrooms.  protoctista: is seaweed and algae prokaryotes: bacteria.

We went out side to do some art BUT we spotted something unusual on the mound THEY WERE DRAGON EGGS one had a magic painting on it. After that we took the eggs inside, made a picture of the dragons and painted our eggs.   Charlie and I made a dragon letter in dragon writing for the mother dragon we pretended that  the playground was a dragon world. We also found some dragon files but there are some more about those in a different blog and some sparkly gems.

Chicks

The chicks have hatched. They are in the brooder keeping warm. when they were in the incubator the humidity was 40  % at the end it was 70% so it is moisture so the chick wouldn’t dry up and so they could brIMG_2942eak through the shell. I have learned how to feed the chicks and also how to take care of them all. We give them water every day and food. There are 4 white and 10 black chicks number 4 and number 17 hatched first. In  the brooder there is a drinking station and there is a feeding station.  I have enjoyed looking after our chicks.  I am hoping to take some home.
