Nursery

Our peedie nursery welcomes several local children each day as they start their learning at Papay Community School. We have a committed team of Early Years staff who have been excited to get to know the children and to begin playing and learning together. We would love to hear from you if you are moving to Papay and have children who would like to attend nursery too.

Papay Nursery is an integral part of our school building, providing a warm and welcoming environment. We have a close-knit school and nursery community and pupils from further up the school take great pride in working with younger pupils and supporting the nursery, creating a real family atmosphere. At Papay School and Nursery each child is valued as an individual and we aim to promote learning by following your child’s interests.

Within the last 24 months the Nursery received a makeover ensuring that it is well-resourced and ready to provide a nurturing play based learning environment. We have excellent outdoor spaces, including a nursery area, the school play park, the back field and a vegetable garden. We regularly work with local partners such as the Market Garden to grow vegetables.

Our Nursery is registered for up to 4 children aged 3 to 5 years including eligible 2-year olds. We are able to offer up to 30 hours per week and parents can choose how many of these hours they require each week. A summary of weekly sessions currently on offer is shown below.

Session Times:

Our session times are planned to reflect sessions requested by families, and are partly dependent on travel timetables (both boat and flights). We communicate with families each term to ensure that the sessions provided are suitable. At present we are able to offer nursery sessions for up to 30hrs per week during the hours of the school day: Mon-Thurs 9.00-3.15  and Fri 9.00 – 2.00

Details about nursery eligibility can be found on the OIC Early Learning and Childcare website, or by contacting the school.
