TVV Art Project and Our Christmas Movie
As we approach Christmas several of our recent topics have merged into each other to create our ‘Christmas Movie’ – Back to the Papay Past. You can watch our trailer here.
We’ve been learning about our school history recently and this forms the main idea behind our movie – reenacting entries from the old school log books. We’ve enjoyed reading about how school used to be, and coming across some familiar names, including both family members and current school staff. Here are a few still images from the movie. We also stopped in at the island’s archive (at the Kelp Store) to check on old census information related to our houses and the school house.
Another ongoing project came along at just the right time. We’ve been working with Jen Austin and Eric Linklater as part of an Isles wide arts project called TVV. Jen visited us and spent the day working on art projects, creating Papay Map’zines and then helping us to animate them. In the online follow up session, Eric and Jen agreed to record some music for our soundtrack – you can hear a sample (the Pineapple Polka) at the top of this page.
