Hope you are all doing well.  Here are your tasks for today.

Number

Time

Warm Up

  • Watch this video to revise your time learning. It is quite a long video so if you are unable to watch it talk to someone at home about what you know about telling the time and look around the house and find as many clocks as you can e.g phone, microwave, tv.

Main Task

  • Record each activity you did yesterday or choose a typical day since learning from home.

  • Draw a picture of the main events, write a short description and include a picture of the clock showing the time.

Challenge

  • Can you include both the analogue and digital clock next to each event.

Fun Finisher

  • Use a timer set it  for one minute.
  • Estimate and record your results.

Challenge – Create your own activities.

Literacy

Sounds Revision ey  and ea

Warm Up

Watch Geraldine ey video and ea video to revise the sounds.

Main Task

Create a poster write and draw as many ey and ea words as you can.  Take care to use the correct letter pattern – use a dictionary to check (remember there are lots of online dictionaries).

Fun Finisher

  • Get someone at home to give you words containing ey or ea – spell them out loud or write them down and check.

Challenge

  • Can you think of any other letter patterns that make the same sound as ey and ea. Make a list of words that have the same sound but are spelt differently.

 

Remember it can be challenging learning at home.  Do your best but don’t worry if you don’t complete all your tasks.

Luckily I’ve got a helper to keep me on track!

Look for contractions in books, magazines etc you have at home.

Be careful apostrophes are also used in words to show belonging e.g Katy’s phone these are not contractions.

Main Task

Split these contractions into two words

e.g  I’m = I + am

  1. a) don’t       b) we’re     c) he’ll    d) you’re    e) we’ve     f) couldn’t

 

Combine these contractions – take care to position the apostrophe at the missing letter(s).

e.g I + am = I’m

Challenge

  • Can you think of any other contractions to split or combine.

 

Fun Finisher

Make a poster to explain what a literacy contraction is. This can be done in your jotter, paper, using computer/ tablet.

  • Topmarks Daily ten  work on addition questions choosing your own level, aspect of addition to focus on and time to complete each question.
  • If you don’t have access online to play make up your own mental addition sums to complete.

 

Main Task

Copy and complete following sums.

 

Fun Finisher

Make up your own sums using tens and units.

Careful if digits equal ten or more.

 

Challenge

Use hundreds tens and units numbers to create own sums and add.

If you have a calculator on your device you could check your own answers.

Warm Up

  • Choose a fairy tale story that you know well e.g Goldilocks and The Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man.
  • If you have the story at home read to yourself or to someone at home.  If you don’t have the book you could look online and read/ listen to the story.

 

Main Task

  • Retell the story to someone at home in your own words.
  • Draw and write the beginning, middle and end of the story.

 

  • Think about an alternative ending to the story – rewrite the ending of the story using your own ideas- you could include new characters and setting as well as changing the plot.

 

Fun Finisher

  • Draw a picture to show what your new ending would look like.
  • Use your toys to act out the ending.

If you have a timer (on a phone, clock, tv etc) use it to see how far you can count in ten/ hundreds in a minute – you can say your numbers aloud or write them down.  Repeat and see if you can beat your time.

Get someone at home to give you a number – tell them if it is odd or even by looking at the units digit- if it is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 it is an even number if it is 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 it is an odd number.
