Thursday 16th January

Today was our Big Writing lesson and we were looking at helping our readers visualise our stories through setting description.

We also continued our work on the 4x table. Some children know it off-by-heart now but others are still a little rusty. There are lots of ways you can practise at home (hit the button and the daily 10 on top marks are some of our favourites but sometimes good old-fashioned repetition through saying it aloud or writing it down works too!)

Monday 13th January

Today Primary 5 were asked to come along to help the Primary 1โ€™s in I.C.T.

Miss Donald remarked at how encouraging the class were and said we were a great help. Primary 5 really enjoyed the chance to help the younger children, we definitely have some future teachers among us!

Friday 10th January

Primary 5 had a busy day today; we had our first times table of the week test this morning (well done to the five pupils who were selected and won their groups 10 points each) then we were continuing with our learning about common multiples.ย  After break we were working in our reading groups and completing reading tasks then after lunch we were learning how to ask and reply to the question “Do you have an animal?” in French.ย  By the end of the lessonย everyone in the class was able to say what animals they had and some were able to tell us their pet’s name using “qui s’appelle”.

Also, the children have asked me to put the link to our times tables songs on the blog so that they can find them at home and practise.ย  The three times table song can be found atย https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks2-maths-the-3-times-table/z6sw382ย and the four times table song can be found atย https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/first-four-times-table/zvnhjhv.

Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on Monday!

Tuesday 7th January

Today we have been continuing our work on the 3x table, learning about food poisoning and ways to ensure the food that we eat is safe and making some New Years Resolutions. Some children have grand plans for the coming year with resolutions such as to travel the world; others had less lofty ideas such as to keep their bedrooms a little tidier or to practise their drawing.

Tuesday 17th December ๐Ÿ–Š ๐ŸŽจ

Today we were writing persuasive letters to Santa. We used compliments to try and convince Santa to bring us the toy that we asked for. One of my personal favourite sentences was โ€œYour beard is looking spectacular this year, you really are ageing very wellโ€.

In addition this afternoon we were experimenting with water marbling which everyone really enjoyed.

Wednesday 11th December

We all had a fantastic, festive day today wearing our Christmas jumpers and having our Christmas lunch.

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who sent a tin in today for the food bank, Iโ€™m sure it will be really appreciated!

Finally, this afternoon was our dress rehearsal for the school nativity which luckily went without a hitch.

See you all on Friday!
